Keeper of the Lost Cities was an especially exciting book to read. Shannon Messenger has successfully created a whole new world for the readers to explore. Sophie Foster, the main character is a role model for readers and even when she faces a lot of challenges she never gives up, easily inspiring many readers. This is by far the most interesting series I have ever read. Shannon Messenger has had to make many small details for the whole Elvin world to really fall together, and lots of readers appreciate that. The Elvin world, the adventure, and Sophie and her friends are all incredibly amazing and the whole book overall is nice and easy to read. Yes, there are a lot of plots and it may seem confusing to read at first, but Shannon managed to make everything make sense at the end. I highly recommend this book for readers aged 10-14.

In this riveting debut, a telepathic girl must figure out why she is the key to her brand-new world—before the wrong person finds the answer first.
Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. And Sophie has a secret—she’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well…she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth, and almost instantly she is forced to leave behind her family for a new life in a place that is vastly different from what she has ever known.
But Sophie still has secrets, and they’re buried deep in her memory for good reason: The answers are dangerous and in high-demand. What is her true identity, and why was she hidden among humans? The truth could mean life or death—and time is running out.

The book is so unique and I love how all the "intelligent species" are living together in the same world but that humans don't know that the other species (ogres, trolls, goblins, elves, gnomes, and dwarves) exist. It's an amazing fantasy book but it could probably also pass as a sci-fi book (and series). This book really is amazing and you should definitely read it.
really good book i recommend it but with my attention span its far too long of a book
This is only the first book there are 9 but it just drags you in
My book is called Keeper of the Lost Cities. It is written by Shannon Messenger and is fantasy. On the challenging scale, I would rate it a 3 - just right! I really liked it and it totally convinced me to read the rest of the series. I fell like, what I would think if I was suddenly told I was an elf and that I could live for, like, 4,000,000,000,000 years? Sophie - she's the main character - has lived through a lot! I think that 3rd grade to 7th grade would benefit from this book.
I love this book too! I just don't think a third grader should read it, because there's definitely more challenging concepts.
I know! Such an amazing book!
I loved this book! If you're into science fiction, fantasy, or adventure you'll love this book too. And if you like The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Percy Jackson, The Land of Stories, or The Five Kingdoms it's a recommendation!
Keeper of the Lost Cities If you like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings then you will love Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger. It is about a daring girl named Sophie Foster and she has a very unique ability…she is a Telepath. She needs to keep her ability and her secrets that lie with her ability safe. When Sophie meets Fitz everything changes. She has to leave everything she loves because of those secrets and abilities. And those secrets people would kill for and put many people in danger. But knowing Sophie of course she steps into the danger and saves many people. Will Sophie survive the danger of those secrets? Read this book to find out what really happened.
My friend forced me to read this and now I'm hooked, I cried when Sophie had to leave her human family and then again when Grady and Elaine thought Sophie had d!ed.
AMAZING! Shannon Messenger hooks your attention in ways that lead you away from reality. Plus there really big book series soon to have a graphic novel version and a movie! A REAL LIFE MUST READ!
This book had me hooked about three chapters through. I was so distracted that I couldn’t hear my parents asking me about dinner! It’s also great for readers who can’t get enough. Totally recommend it. :)
