Ashes
By Kathryn Lasky
"In wartime, nothing is safe" In Berlin, 1932, Thirteen-year- old Gabriella Schramm lived a happy and privileged life. As Hitler rises to power, everything suddenly became quite unreal as though nothing could have any consequences. People who were once trustworthy are now Nazis. Gaby and her best friend Rosa seemed to realize the transformations of their lives and the agonies of their country during the rise of Hitler. To face the reality, Gaby turns to the comfort of her books, but suddenly those are in grave danger of disappearing as well. To Gaby, holding on to the one thing she loved the most was never so hard. "I could still see Berlin faintly, its buildings rising like a scratchy calligraphy, words in a sentence strung across a page. A page I couldn't quite read" Through a young women, Kathryn Lasky describes a personal and political history that will haunt readers. I would give this book a 101/100 if you ask me to rate it. Reading this book, I imagine myself as Gaby. I smelled the ashes she smelled and I felt my own eyes stinging as Gaby saw the sea of brown uniforms. I really enjoy this page-turning book because every word from this book affected me deeply. I recommend this book to all ages and genders because Gaby's gripping story will haunt everyone.
The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook: From Cauldron Cakes to Knickerbocker Glory--More Than 150 Magical Recipes for Wizards and Non-Wizards Alike (Unofficial Cookbook)
By Dinah Bucholz
The best recipes I have ever had. Most of them came from the movie. I finally got to try all the Honey Dukes sweets. This is some good stuff!!!!!!! I am in love with the Harry Potter books and movies. Now I can finally taste all the treats from the movie. My favorite recipe is the exploding Bon Bons from Honey Dukes. I remember Hermione telling Harry about them. So good!!!!!!!!!
The Red Badge of Courage (Classic Starts)
By Stephen Crane
I recommend this book for teens, it has a lot of big words kids wouldn’t understand. I enjoyed it, it had a good plot but the conflict was a bit strange for a book about war. It has some sad moments but it turned into a happy ending.
Blades of Freedom (Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales #10): A Louisiana Purchase Tale
By Nathan Hale
What a good book! Nathan Hale is telling another tale now, and this one is about the Louisiana Purchase. There were lots of slaves in Haiti. Napoleon is in the French Army and government now. You learn about the Haitian Revolution, enslaves people, and, of course the Louisiana Purchase! This graphic novel ties history, some humor, and everything in between. My favorite character was probably Hangman! I really liked how funny he was, and I kept on cracking up because of him. Warning: this book contains slavery, so you may want to talk to a trusted adult after reading, Happy reading!
Theodore Boone: the Fugitive
By John Grisham
anthua
Theodore Boone: The Fugitive is the 5th (and possibly the last) book in the amazing Theodore Boone series by John Grisham. It stars a boy named Theodore Boone, who is 13. Both his parents are lawyers, and this makes Theodore want to be one too. (Spoiler Alert if you haven’t read the first book) This book is mostly about Theodore tracking down the major antagonist of the first book (and debatably the whole series) and then proving him wrong in a court of law. I feel like this book is written well and is a page-turner, although not as much as the other books. I say this because this book does have its dull moments. In particular the end of this, which I’m not going to spoil, isn’t really that interesting, nor is it that climatic. In my opinion, this is something that the other books were good at, and I hope the next book (if there is another one) will improve in this aspect. Other than that, I feel that Theodore Boone: The Fugitive is a pretty good book, full of excitement and interesting facts on lawyers. This book gets a 4 out of 5 stars from me.

Stargirl/Love, Stargirl Boxed Set
By Jerry Spinelli
Leo is one of them. He eats like them and does everything a proper MAHS student is 'suppose' to do. Then Stargirl shows up. She is different. She doesn't give into peer pressure or try to follow the crowd and she mystifies the town with her unique ways while also capturing the heart of Leo. But the MAHS student won't let her be for long. This the best books I've had the pleasure of reading and I desperately wish everyone would read it. Stargirl has moved. She is now facing a small girl named Dootsie, trying to help an augrophic out of her shell and trying to figure out the ever so mysterious perry all while trying to get over Leo. Can it be done? This book is as great as the first and we truly get a look into the mind of Stargirl, amazing.
