The Kingdom of Back

The Kingdom of Back

By Marie Lu

The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu is a fantasy book with a mix of historical fiction. This book takes place all around Europe and is about Nannerl Mozart, the older sister of Wolfgang Mozart (referred to as Woferl) wanting to be known in the world, and mark her place in history. But she was a shadow of her genius brother, who could work music like magic at such a young age. So Nannerl makes a deal with a so called Prince from another world, but all is not what it seems. This book talks about many important aspects of life such as family, love, stereotypes, and jealousy. I think that this book is a must read because if it’s amazing incorporation of fantasy and reality. If you are a fan of Marie Lu’s bestseller series Legend, you would love this book because they are both great examples of Marie Lu’s style. This review was written by Akarsh.

Orphan Monster Spy

Orphan Monster Spy

By Matt Killeen

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about World War Two and the atomic bombs. Even if someone doesn’t enjoy war books, this is a fantastic book about prejudice and adventure that will leave readers thinking about it long after they’ve closed the book.

Kid Owner

Kid Owner

By Tim Green

Kid Owner is about this 12 year old boy named Ryan Zinna. He loves football but his mom won't let him play until a certain age. Ryan was just a normal kid but until his dad, ( which he has never met before) dies, everything changed. He missed his dad's funeral but got to hear his will, he was shocked to find that his dad owned the Dallas Cowboys. And he wanted Ryan to own them. His stepmom pulls some stings and now Ryan might not have them after all. Now he has to compete against his stepbrother Dillon in his middle school football and the Cowboys. He only has his friends Izzy, Jackson, the Cowboys coach, and his mom on his side. How will he win? My favorite part is when Ryan is playing a football game against his stepbrother Dillon. He takes himself out of the game and lets another kid go in that hasn't yet. I really liked this book and if you like sports, football, or the author Tim Green. Then I recommend this book.

The Princess Bride (Fox): S. Morgenstern's Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure

The Princess Bride (Fox): S. Morgenstern's Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure

By William Goldman

Shortly after watching the movie and LOVING it, I got the book. And I ended up loving it even more than the movie. (The movie basically took the book and chopped all the scenes and moments in half.) The Princess Bride gives so much detail, and beauty, and descriptions and you can see everything in your mind. It is a tale of "fencing, fighting, torture, poison, true love, hate, revenge, giants, hunters, bad men, good men, beautifulest ladies, snakes, spiders, beasts of all natures and descriptions, pain, death, brave men, coward men, strongest men, chases, escapes, lies, truths, passion, and miracles." (If you read that whole paragraph I commend you.) You get to sympathize with everyone (except Prince Humperdinck, Vizzini, and Count Rugen) going from Buttercup to Westley to Inigo to Fezzik and every one of them has a story that is no less than heartbreaking, thrilling, beautiful, or painful. This book is proof that old books are just as good stories as any modern book, and you NEED to read this if you ever crave adventure, true love, or if you just need a book that you will read and re-read over and over!

Gina: F and Nate? OH, e got an A+. #3: No Info Left. #4: Big Nate, a.k.a. middle schooler Nate Wright, is eleven years old, four-and-a-half feet tall, and the wunderkind creation of cartoonist Lincoln Peirce. Nate is also the star of six novelized books to be published by HarperCollins, the first of which debuted on the New York Times children's best-seller list. This Big Nate Collection collects Peirce's Big Nate strips, originally published only in newspapers. For those not familiar with Big Nate, think Diary of a Wimpy Kid meets Calvin and Hobbes. Nate is a self-described genius and a sixth-grade Renaissance man equipped with only a #2 pencil and the unshakable belief that he is destined for greatness (a fortune cookie told him so). He fights a daily battle against overzealous teachers, undercooked cafeteria food, and all-around conventionality. He's the original rebel without a clue, alternately abrasive and endearing to classmates and teachers alike. Throughout Peirce's Big Nate Collection, Nate blazes an unforgettable trail through the sixth grade at P.S. 38, earning straight As in laughs (and numerous detentions) along the way.
