The Baby-Sitters Club Graphic Novels #1-7: A Graphix Collection: Full-Color Edition (The Baby-Sitters Club Graphix)
By Ann M. Martin
HeartsandTy
OMG! THIS SERIES is great. Personally, I like the different perspectives from each character because it gives us a peek into their lives. The Baby-Sitters Club is about Kristy Thomas, Claudia Kishi, Mary Anne Spier, and Stacey McGill. They are four best friends who formed a club. Together, they overcome many challenges. I think this series teaches people the importance of friendship, teamwork, and sticking together when things get tough. I just LOVE this series, and think everyone should read it. By the way, I like Kristy! I recommend this book series to those who enjoy graphic novels and reading teen tales about friendship.
Mallory Pike, Number One Fan (Baby-Sitters Club #80)
By Ann M. Martin
Since as long as she can remember, Mallory has always wanted to be an author. Finding inspiration from successful children’s authors such as Amelia Moody, Mallory in confident that writing is her passion. So, when Mallory and her classmates are asked to write a research report about their dream career, Mal knows exactly what she will do. As she begins working on her report, Mallory notices that one of her favorite authors, Henrietta Hayes, lives in Stoneybrook! In fact, Ms. Hayes lives on the same street Dawn, Mary Anne, and Logan live on. With much persistence, Mallory is finally able to talk with Ms. Hayes and is even able to land a job with her. Using Henrietta in her report for school, Mallory is sure that her report will be a huge success. But when some questionable information comes out about Ms. Hayes’ past, Mallory begins to wonder if her ideal role model is a fraud. I really, really liked this book! It was fun, engaging, informative, and overall, very enjoyable to read. As usual, Ann M. Martin allows the reader to learn many good life lessons. In the story, the reader can see that Mallory kind of has tunnel vision. She is so convinced that everything has to go this exact way that she often forgets that there are more ways to do things. I really appreciated the reminder that everyone has different ways of doing things. I suggest this book is you like babysitting, authors, books, and friendship. Happy reading!

Best Friends for Never
By Adrienne Maria Vrettos
Hattie has only recently moved to Trepan Grove from New York this summer. Right away she made 3 new friends. Hattie hides part of herself, her cat t-shirts and love of fantasy books, so she can fit in. Everything seems to be great. Then school starts. After seeing popular girl Zooey being publicly de-popularized and humiliated, Hattie and her friends sign a friendship pact. But when Hattie unwillingly breaks the pact, her friends forget her. At first she thinks they are mad at her and are just ignoring her. But then she realizes it is part of the Harvest Festival curse, and they literally can't remember her. And everyday they forget again. How can Hattie break the curse? I think this book was an interesting twist on middle school popularity, and all the dramas with friendship and being true to yourself. I especially like how this book is clear in it's recurring theme against bullying. I recommend this book to elementary and middle grade girls. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Island of the Blue Dolphins
By Scott O'Dell
I loved this book. Karana is such a strong young woman. She has that girly flare with the strength of a man. Could you imagine losing your family because your brother disobeyed? Then for him to turn and be killed by your future best friend? And you turn in rage and destroy your town that the men of your village built with their bare hands? You then suffer through the death of your best friend and capture his son? And, let's think here... could anyone here survive a tidal wave clinging to a slick rock wall? Even though we have the heart of lions and the pride of a dancing peafowl, I don't think any of us could have done it. But Karana did it. As she grew older and mature she became stronger, braver, and wiser. Her caution and creative abilities kept her alive on an island for 18 years. This is a story that will impact your life and make you want to really become like Karana. She is such a role model for all ages. What an amazing novel.
Where Is Alcatraz?
By Nico Medina
If you like learning about abandoned places then this is the book for you. If you would be interested in learning about a famous prison that housed some of the worst criminals ever, this is a good book to read. It gives you a lot of information about why it was built and why it was abandoned. The reason I rated it 4 stars was because I liked how they explained some of the most wanted and deadliest criminals in U.S. history as well as good descriptions of the island complex itself. So if you like to read the origins of abandoned places than this is the book for you.

Best Babysitters Ever
By Caroline Cala
Malia knew that destiny had found her when she found The Babysitters Club: Kristy's Great Idea; a group of girls making money and babysitting kids. Making money AND hanging out with your best friends? That sounded like a deal to Malia. Plus this would help fund an AMAZING joint birthday party for the friend's 13th birthday. The little kid part sounded okay, but who really cares that. Teaming up with her best friends, Bree and Dot, the girls form a club "BAD Babysitters" more known now as "Best Babysitters". A rocky website, candy, and challenging kids are all part of the Best Babysitter's first time. But then a horrible thing happens. Chelsea, Malia's big sister, forms a club "Seaside Sitters" that also babysits as well as gets a HUGE number of jobs, has a fancy website, and is stealing all of their business! Now for the Best Babysitters this isn't just a babysitting crisis: it's a war officially! Sabotages, jobs, and mistakes all face the Best Babysitters. Will they take back the business and have an amazing 13th party? Overall, this was a fun and easy read that anyone would enjoy. Happy reading!
