Chew On This: Everything You Don't Want to Know About Fast Food
By Charles Wilson, Eric Schlosser
It was an interesting thesis on the fast food in america. It thoroughly explained where the food originated and how it was made. I thought it was both funny and revolting. The story ended with the readers gaining another perspective about their diet. What we consume is important in our daily lives.
The One Year Bible for Kids, Challenge Edition NLT (Tyndale Kids)
By Tyndale
This is really good! If you feel like you can't understand the Bible for some reason (sometimes I can't) This is a great challenge and experiance learning and actually understanding God's word.
Yukon Ho! (Calvin and Hobbes)
By Bill Watterson
Yukon Ho! is another wonderful Calvin and Hobbes book. But... them again every Calvin and Hobbes book is a good one. The six year old boy and his tiger always have good adventures. Spaceman Spiff is still alive and well no matter how many monsters (and aliens) come his way. Hobbes still has an enthusiastic greeting to Calvin coming home from another horrible school day with Mrs. Wormwood. Yes, although Bill Watterson retired forever ago, Calvin and Hobbes still lures in new readers every day. -Sharkysharks
The Case of the Missing Marquess: An Enola Holmes Mystery
By Nancy Springer
I love thus book! It is a great mystery that tells about Sherlock Holmes' fictional younger sister. She has rarely seen her older brothers, but when her mother disappears, she finally meets them. To her surprise, she finds them to be sort of snooty and they try to send her to boarding school. She runs away in search of her mother. In the middle, she discovers yet another mystery to uncover. I recommend this to any bookworm searching for a cozy book. Plus, it has a high lexile!
In a Heartbeat
By Loretta Ellsworth
When a small mistake costs sixteen-year-old Eagan her life during a figure-skating competition, she leaves many things unreconciled, including her troubled relationship with her mother. From her vantage point in the afterlife, Eagan reflects back on her memories, and what she could have done differently, through her still-beating heart. When fourteen-year-old Amelia learns she will be getting a heart transplant, her fear and guilt battle with her joy at this new chance at life. And afterwards when she starts to feel different—dreaming about figure skating, craving grape candy—her need to learn about her donor leads her to discover and explore Eagan’s life, meeting her grieving loved ones and trying to bring the closure they all need to move on.
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, Book 3 The Ship of the Dead
By Rick Riordan
One boy. One god. One life-or-death contest. Magnus Chase has found the Hammer of Thor, but one thing is still on his to-do list:Destroy Loki, the god of all known evil. Loki is launching Naglfar-- the ship of nails, created from the grotesque toenails of dead men--and certain death. With only an annoying talking sword and some witless or too witful friends that never seem to get along, Magnus may be on the last ever trip of his life. A life threatening wine, an icy winter goddess, an angry god who's LITERALLY stuck in a nutshell--Magnus tells his "wyrd" story with more irony, humor, and sarcasm than ever seen before. This is the last book in the series, and definetly the best by far.A page-turner like this is perfect for a lazy afternoon!
The Babysitters Club - Collection 4: Logan Likes Mary Anne; Kristy and the Snobs; Claudia and the New Girl
By Ann M. Martin
I read all of these and love them. Mary Anne falls in love with a boy-sitter, Kristy has trouble fitting into her new neighborhood, and Claudia spends more time with the new girl than with the BSC. Happy reading!
