I Shall Wear Midnight (Tiffany Aching)

I Shall Wear Midnight (Tiffany Aching)

By Terry Pratchett

This book is the fourth book in the five book Discworld series starring Tiffany Aching. Tiffany is now officially the witch of the chalk, and performs all the little tasks that ordinary people don't or can't perform. But now, something is stirring dark feelings against witches, and even the Nac Mac Feegles can not help her against this force. But yet, other things happen. Roland has a new fiance, Letitia, and there is to be a wedding. Yet wedding plans are vetoed when the old baron dies. Feegles set fire to broomsticks, and tie shoelaces together, and there may be more to Letitia than meets the eye. The fourth book in this series is darker than the rest of the books. Yet it carries the same strong female lead, and the message of overcoming bigotry as the rest of the books. Recommended for grades 5 and up.

A Week without Tuesday (Tuesday McGillycuddy Adventures)

A Week without Tuesday (Tuesday McGillycuddy Adventures)

By Angelica Banks

After the exciting, rather exhausting adventures of "Finding Serendipity", Tuesday McGillycuddy is more than happy to lead a "normal" life - that is, until her slightly overprotective father, Dennis, rushes in with shocking headlines: "SEVEN WRITERS GONE MISSING." A frantic Dennis warns his wife and daughter to stop doing the thing they love most: writing, as to avoid being the next victim - but he is not able to stop the imaginative Tuesday and her loyal Winged Dog, Baxterr, from getting whisked away by her friend, Vivienne Small, who desperately needs Tuesday's help. After a Winged Dog's death, Vivienne's world has been turned topsy-turvy - and she blames the mysterious "G", who writes in his note that, "I cannot keep the worlds apart much longer." Without his power, the two worlds of story and reality will collide - and only Tuesday can save both worlds.. But will Tuesday and Vivienne be able to solve a mystifying mystery and save the world (again) at the same time? Poor Tuesday.. First of all, I would like to say that this book was oh-so-terribly cheesy at times, but I suppose I warmed up to it after a while - in fact, I would say that this book's "cheesiness" is what made it really pop out for me. Most books in the fantasy genre have plenty of angst and gruesome battles, but never really focus on more subtle themes like friendship and family - and they should. When I finished "A Week Without Tuesday", the ending was bittersweet - it left me yearning for more adventures with curious Tuesday and spunky Vivienne, who I had grown rather fond of. This book was written in a "childish" manner, with parts that made me smile cheekily, but was also overly descriptive, fitting as much detail into a page as possible - it was wonderful. When I finished "A Week Without Tuesday," I sighed with contentment, flopped over in my bed, and immediately went to make some blueberry pancakes and started working on my abandoned stories again. My hat is off to authors Heather Rose and Danielle Wood (Angelica Banks...) for a lovely sequel :)

Nightmares!

Nightmares!

By Jason Segel, Kirsten Miller

Whether your nightmares are clowns or the dark, Nightmares! Is a book you wanna read, it has a great plot with well thought out characters, it has also some humor injected into it, like when Dabney, a clown, told Charlie, the main character, to not kill anyone when he borrowed his car. It is also full of suspense which makes it a real page-turner, unlike the other books I have read. I have recently finished the book and cannot wait for the sequel coming out in the Fall of 2015. In conclusion the book has earned 2nd place of my all time favorite book list. Good job Jason and Kirsten!

Surprisingly, I did not like this book at all. It was very jumpy. Just random drawings, no real storyline or anything, just random drawings. I do not recommend.

Descendants: Junior Novel

Descendants: Junior Novel

By Rico Green

This my favorite book and it's based on the Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants.Mal,Evie,Jay,and Carlos are offspring of some of the cruelest, most evil villains of all time-Maleficent,Evil Queen,Jafar, and Cruella De Vil,to names names. They've spent their whole lives on the Isle of the Lost,a broken down place filled with the worst of the worst baddies, brutes, and lowlifes. But when Prince Ben,son of Belle and the Beast, declares that the ''innocent'' children of the Isle of the Lost should be given a second chance, they're brought to live on Aurandon with all the ''good'' folks.Little does Ben know that Mal and her friends have a sinister plot to take down his kingdom! Watch out,Auradon..here come the descendants.I hope you love this book. It's rotten to the core and AMAZING!

Council of Mirrors (Sisters Grimm #9) (Sisters Grimm, The)

Council of Mirrors (Sisters Grimm #9) (Sisters Grimm, The)

By Michael Buckley

Warning this review contains spoilers. Two years have passed since Sabrina and Daphne’s parents had been kidnaped and put under a sleeping spell. They have been rescued and awoken now, but their problems aren’t over yet. The Scarlet Hand has over run Ferryport Landing! Also Mirror took over Granny Relda’s body and is trying to break the barrier that traps all the ever-afters in the town, so the rest of the Grimms (besides Jake), puck, Mr. Canis, and Red seek shelter with Charming’s army. Then the Bunny Lancaster a.k.a The Wicked Queen shows up to help, she fixes the broken magic mirrors, and they revile a prophesy that only Sabrina and Daphne can defeat Mirror and The Scarlet Hand. Naturally Daphne is all for it, but like all always Sabrina has her doubts. Will the Army of ever-afters listen to a couple of Kids? How will they defeat The Scarlett Hand? Will puck ever take a bath? (Ok I think we all know the answer to the last one is, NO) Find out in The Council of Mirrors. What I thought of the book: Just when I thought Puck couldn't get any awesomer (yes that's a word) he surprised me. But like always, Sabrina never failed to annoy me. I also didn't like Basil (their little brother). He annoyed me even more than Sabrina, even though he barely said any thing. Although I used to think Veronica (their mom) was kind of cool, this book made her seem like an annoying cry-baby. I think that Daphne might have married Pinocchio. I can't believe Sabrina and Puck went like 5 years without seeing each other. They ended up getting married, so I'm not complaining, but I thought they would be at least friends their whole lives. It was a pretty good ending to the series, but over all, I liked the books before their parents were awake better.

The Inside Story (The Sisters Grimm, Book 8)

The Inside Story (The Sisters Grimm, Book 8)

By Michael Buckley, Peter Ferguson

Michael Buckley is hilarious. I love how he take characters from a bunch of places (like Alice in wonderland and the Wizard of Oz) along with all the classic fairy-tales, throws in a dysfunctional family and a sausage loving dog, creating the best (and funniest) series anyone could possibly read.
