Russian Roulette: The Story of an Assassin (Alex Rider)

Russian Roulette: The Story of an Assassin (Alex Rider)

By Anthony Horowitz

I thought this book was really good and I was very amazed how Anthony Horowitz still managed to make it good even though it was in a completely different perspective. I also thought that it was cool how Yassen was the hero and once actually had emotion. What happens is that his hometown, Estrov gets destroyed. He escapes to Moscow where he begins a life of crime with some new friends but quickly came to an end when he got kidnapped by a man named Vladimir Sharkovsky. He managed to escape and found Scorpia and Julia Rothman and gets trained in Malagasto. I thought that Anthony developed Yassen super well and we got to learn a lot about him. It makes me like Yassen more than before because I use to dislike him. It made me appreciate him and it also made me realize why he became such an emotionless killer. I felt that he is a good man inside or at least he was once a good man. But this was an action packed awesome novel that I loved and finished very quickly.

Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark

Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark

By Ridley Pearson

In my opinion, this book had some positives and negatives, so I'll be writing this review in that format. Positives: This book has a really cool, unique plot, not like anything I've seen before. Also, there aren't really any moments in the book where things aren't full of action, meaning you won't get too bored while reading this. Negatives: Since the book went quickly, it missed a few points that would have really helped to make things make sense. See, the author never really explains how things happen. The characters just set a plan to go somewhere and end up there, but there's no in-between. Also, the characters don't have much depth to them, and the girl characters are usually overlooked! There isn't much attention put on them! Also, this book was quite confusing. I think since it was quite a quick read for me, that stopped it from being anywhere near as confusing as some books I've read, but still, it's just not one of my favorites. Overall, I was expecting a lot more from this book. I've been wanting to read it for a while now, but I'm kinda disappointed. I must say though, Amanda and Finn would be a cute couple!

The Magic Misfits

The Magic Misfits

By Neil Patrick Harris

This is my first post and also a book review I did in my writing class Magic… it’s all tricks and illusions, right? Wrong. Neil Patrick Harris takes us on a journey about learning what magic really is with Carter, a boy who lives with his Uncle Sly who steals from people using magic. Soon, though, uncle Sly is discovered and he and Carter must run away. Carter escapes from Uncle Sly and ends up at the little town of Mineral Wells. There, he meets Leila, Riley, Theo, and the twins, Olly and Izzy. Bosso and his gang are a traveling circus crew. They scam people with fake attractions. Then, they find out Bosso is planning to steal the biggest diamond in the world! The friends hatch an elaborate plan to stop him! This hilarious Realistic Fiction book is great for people who want to expand their reach to a new series. This book was Magic to my eyes in many ways. I loved how this book is really suspenseful. At first; we don’t know much about the protagonist, Carter, and Mr.Vernon was steeped in mystery. It made me ask things, such as“How does he seem connected to Carter?” And “Who is he even?” I thought it was exciting when The Misfits unveiled Bosso’s plans to steal the largest diamond in the world. I found this book humorous, like when Izzy and Olly make little quirks, and comments, and I like how the narrator sometimes pauses and says silly things. Those things were what struck me most out of all the Magic. But there are some things that were less appealing to me in this book. This book is good, but like all books, there were a few things that were not as good as others. Sometimes, the book dragged on or had filler scenes and long parts unrelated to the story. Also, it used some terms I had to find out or look up. Those things I did not like as much as the rest of this book. There are many ups and downs, but I recommend that if you get bored easily, don’t even try this book. But you might want to try it with its neverending comedy, and also it would be good for you if you like adventure stories...I think it is a great book. Most people would like to read The Magic Misfits. This is good for a book report or review because there is a lot of content to write about. Overall, this book was great and very funny. I like all the other books in the series because they have similar content and quality as the first one. Join the magic with Neil Patrick Harris’s Magic Misfits!

Rocket and Groot: Stranded on Planet Strip Mall! (Marvel Middle Grade Novel)

Rocket and Groot: Stranded on Planet Strip Mall! (Marvel Middle Grade Novel)

By Tom Angleberger

In this book the famous Marvel characters, Captain Rocket and Groot have been stranded on a small planet along with their faithful robot Veronica. The discover that this planet is one large strip mall. While on their mission to find water and dirt, and a way off the planet they find out this is no ordinary strip mall. Whenever thy enter a store the employees try to lure them into the bathrooms, where the toilet promptly attacks them and tries to swallow them whole. Each time the trio must use their wits to escape. Then when they find Rocket's old ship in one of the stores, they have a chance. But Rocket and Groot realize it is their duty to find the monster on this planet and destroy it to protect others. Reading Rocket and Groot was interesting. I have never seen another book formatted like it. When I opened it I was expecting a comic book. The story is told as if the characters are recording a captain's log. Captain Rocket will start out, then Veronica will comment or interrupt, and then of course Groot will comment will his ever famous "I Am Groot". There are also pictures drawn by Rocket using a space stylus. I recommend this book to young Rocket and Groot fans. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Have you ever read the Magic Tree House? So if you haven't you should read it because it is a good book to read. The characters are Jack, Annie and Peanut which is Morgan le Fay. The settings is in the magic tree house and mostly everywhere. In the dolphin one, they need to find four things to free Morgan le Fay out of the spell. In my opinion, it is a great book to read because you can listen to music in the beginning and at the end to. My other reason is it’s an exciting book. Also, the book helped you learned facts from the olden time. You should read the Magic Tree House because it shows you all about adventures!!

Martin the Warrior is a great book in Redwall and I loved it. It's a prequel to the first book, basically.
