Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

ok, its an amazing book. Its great, but what really annoys me is that people only started reading that because the movie came out. I read it years before the movie came out and I tried to convince my friends to read it but they said no but then the second theres a trailer fro it everyones all over it. But anyways THIS BOOK IS THE BEST!!!!!!! First of all, a girl named Katniss Everdeen has a mother and sister named Prim (as in Primrose). This book kinda takes place in the future. It's called Panama (it as in the United States). Panama is divided up into 12 districts. Katniss and her family live in District 12, the poorest district. Every year, all of the districts have what is called The Hunger Games. This is were one boy and one girl from ages 12-18 must enter their names in the Hunger Games. When Prim (age 12) gets picked, Katnis can't bear her being in the Hunger Games, a game of killing until there is only one left. Katniss (age 16) took Prim's place and entered the Hunger Games. A boy from the same district as Katniss kinda falls in love with her<3. This book is fasinating, exciting, adventurous, and breath-taking. My nly suggestion is to read the book!!!!!

This is a really good book about Katniss Everdeen who is selected to go to the hunger Games to fight other kids to the death. It is fullof suspence with a cool twist and I loved it!
