Over 6 million people have read the #1 New York Times bestseller WONDER and have fallen in love with Auggie Pullman, an ordinary boy with an extraordinary face.
The book that inspired the Choose Kind movement.
I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse.
August Pullman was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face. WONDER, now a #1 New York Times bestseller and included on the Texas Bluebonnet Award master list, begins from Auggie’s point of view, but soon switches to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others. These perspectives converge in a portrait of one community’s struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance.
"Wonder is the best kids' book of the year," said Emily Bazelon, senior editor at Slate.com and author of Sticks and Stones: Defeating the Culture of Bullying and Rediscovering the Power of Character and Empathy. In a world where bullying among young people is an epidemic, this is a refreshing new narrative full of heart and hope. R.J. Palacio has called her debut novel “a meditation on kindness” —indeed, every reader will come away with a greater appreciation for the simple courage of friendship. Auggie is a hero to root for, a diamond in the rough who proves that you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

in think its inspiring to all children august who has facial deformation since his going to middle school he has to adapt to a new environment its a rough journey but he makes it!
Thia book left me MIND BLOWN! A boy named August (Auggie) Pullman, was born with... let's say, a facial difference. He had been homeschooled his entire life, with all the surgeries he had to go through. Now, for the first time, he attends real live middle school, complete with bullies, (Julian) friends, (Summer and Jack) and so much more! Wonder tells the story of Via, (Oliva, Auggie's sister) Jack, Summer, and other characters. This book really is a Wonder- full experience for readers of all ages. Definitely a book you'll want to read.
kimbo is right
The book wonder is a very funny and at the same time sad book because our main character August Pullman has a facial deformation and has been homeschooled until he starts middle school.in the book you will find different point of views and how Auggie adapts to middle school.
I found the book "Wonder" a VERY great book! Our main character is August Pullman. He has a facial deformation, is entering fifth grade, and is going to public school! Before that, he was always homeschooled by his mom . But, if entering a new school was hard, it just got a lot harder! With friends and foes along the way, Auggie has to get through fifth grade while having to deal with bullies. I would definitely give this book a 5-star rating! Actually, a 5 BILLION star rating! If you like heart-warming books, funny books and sad books, pick up "Wonder" and start reading! This is a book that you'll never want to put down, even after you've finished reading it!
In the book "Wonder," you'll meet many important people and learn how they feel about having August in their lives once he joins their school, Beecher Prep. What makes this character so special is he was born with a deformed face and has been homeschooled until fifth grade. Luckily he's very smart and gets through with ease as he faces getting made fun of and many other rude things. But in the end they all end up being friends... Except for Julian. I found the book "Wonder" AMAZING! The story made you not want to stop reading until you had to. For example, when they're in Pennsylvania and these kids are fighting with him and his friends, you have to see what happens next. Another thing I found interesting was that this book is based on a true story. One more thing I loved about this book was how each chapter changed to tell another person's point of view. The story kept progressing as it told what happened next from another character's perspective, which you'll understand more once you read the book. So, find one someplace around you and start reading. I give this book a 5 star rating for its unique story structure that tells a compassionate store about one boy's struggles to fit in in middle school. I would recommend this book for ages 7 and up!
