The beloved New York Times bestselling author of the modern classic Frindle celebrates books and the joy of reading with a new school story to love!

Sixth grader Alec can’t put a good book down.

So when Principal Vance lays down the law—pay attention in class, or else—Alec takes action. He can’t lose all his reading time, so he starts a club. A club he intends to be the only member of. After all, reading isn’t a team sport, and no one would want to join something called the Losers Club, right? But as more and more kids find their way to Alec’s club—including his ex-friend turned bully and the girl Alec is maybe starting to like—Alec notices something. Real life might be messier than his favorite books, but it’s just as interesting.

With The Losers Club, Andrew Clements brings us a new school story that’s a love letter to books and to reading and that reminds us that sometimes the best stories are the ones that happen off the page—our own!

This book was a very interesting and to read. It was about Alec and him so into reading that it gets him into trouble. Alec just wants it to be quiet when he is reading and I would want that too. So he makes a club so he could read in peace. He also makes its name The Losers club so no one would join.

The main character in this story is Alec and he likes reading time to be silent and i totally agree with him. This book is really good even though i thought it was bad, but it turned out to be a really good book.

I really like this book is about a boy named Alec. he creates a reading club because all he wants to do in school is read. The club was named the losers club, but it started to become more popular. This is a good book about friendship and making your dreams come true.

I picked this book up to read but I didn't think it would be very good, but it was actually a pretty great book! It wasn't a very interesting storyline but how it was worded made it pretty good. It was about a boy named Alec who can't put a book down and keeps getting in trouble for it so at his school he makes a book club called the Losers Club so people will not join it but some kids join it still. I would recommend this book for all the readers and definitely the readers who like reading and clubs.

This book is about a boy named Alec who wants to read during school. So he makes a reading club where you just read. You do not talk bout the book like most clubs do. The club name? The losers club. For those who just LOVE funny books. This book is for you.

This book had a fun idea, but it seemed a little forced. The insane amount of books this kid read was believable, but do 6th graders REALLY just talk about how much they loved their books all the time? I loved all of his other books, but this one was a little unbelievable.

This is like the best book. There is plenty of exciment in this book. I decided to read this book because I love the author and it was new.

YAAAAAS! Andrew Clements has done it again! Not only did he make amazing books, ie Frindle, The Janitors Boy, The Report Card, and Lunch Money, now there is a new, great book! When I saw it was by Andrew Clements, I got this book and loved it! It is about a boy named Alec (like smart Alec) who is always reading in class. He is not allowed anymore, so he creates a Losers Club just to focus on reading. "Hilarious!" - iikitty

Alec just wants to read, but his principal and all his teachers think that he shouldn't be doing that in the middle of class. Alec doesn't let that bother him he does it anyway until his principal informs him that he will have to do summer school if he doesn't shape up. Alec attempts to pay more attention, but then there is the problem of the extended day program. Alec has to join a club or do homework for three hours after school or he will get expelled. He not interested in any of the clubs all he wants to do is read. So Alec decides to make his own club, " The Losers Club ", a club with a terrible name so people won't join it and so Alec can read in peace. But the rules clearly state in the handbook that the club has to have at least two members. Can Alec convince another person to join his club or is he destined to doing something that he hates?

This book is funny because it is about your stereotyped kids who kind of fit in with the crowd but not on purpose, but they find their way to stand out which is a beautiful thing that this book perfectly represents.
