Raina Telgemeier's #1 New York Times bestselling, Eisner Award-winning graphic memoir based on her childhood!

Raina just wants to be a normal sixth grader. But one night after Girl Scouts she trips and falls, severely injuring her two front teeth. What follows is a long and frustrating journey with on-again, off-again braces, surgery, embarrassing headgear, and even a retainer with fake teeth attached. And on top of all that, there's still more to deal with: a major earthquake, boy confusion, and friends who turn out to be not so friendly.

Smile is based off Raina Telgemeier's childhood. It is about a girl who fell down and lost her two front teeth. Then, at school things got worse with her friendships. She wants to be normal, but all her friends are becoming a bit rude. They pantsed her when she got up to get something because they were being mean to her in front of the whole middle school. That got Raina upset and embarrassed. Her friends eventually caught up, asking her why she was being so sensitive suddenly. But Raina told them that they weren't their normal selves, and treating her differently now that she has dental problems. She then tells them that she's done with them, and makes new friends. This good book because it shows many examples of standing up for yourself.

This book is one of my favorite graphic novels. Every time I walk into a library and I am bored, I go to find this book. Raina is coming home from a girl scout meeting one day when she trips and busts a bunch of her teeth. Then she needs headgear and lots of embarrassing things. Then she is growing up.

Raina is faced with some dental problems that she needs to work through in this book. Like many kids her age, she has braces and needs to have many appoints and embarrassing dental gear to help her fix her teeth. She has boy troubles, friend troubles, and some crazy life events that also happen in this book. She has to work through each issue and find a way to overcome it all. The end is a surprise! I loved reading this book. It is easy to relate and feel connected to Raina and her problems.

I like this book because it makes me think of all of the kids in my grade who wear braces, and how it didn't effect me yet. This heart-warming book will go through middle school to high school, and will take you through a dramatic-yet amazing story of how Raina-the main character- has lost her two front teeth (adult). And during her teeth drama, she had to go through boy drama- and even finds out that her so called "friends" aren't being that nice to her! During her middle school life, she be-friends a "Tiny-Tot Sixth Grader" named Samuel, or Sammy. However, when a new transferred student named Sean comes along, Raina starts crushing on Sean! Soon, Raina becomes madly in love with Sean, and even tries out for the school basketball team, or known as the Aptos Tigers. When the Valentine's Dance comes along, Raina was suppost to go with Sammy, but instead, she felt sick in her stomach so she decided to go home early, without even telling him! Now, Sammy is mad at Raina. Will Raina survive? Find out more in the book!

Smile is a book where the author Raina loses her 2 front teeth. After that, it is just a mix of drama, and fun. Smile is a great book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes comic books, funny books and, obviously, a book that has a good plot and unexpected plot twists.

This book is so funny and relatable! I had braces before too, and I really felt Raina's pain. What makes this book even greater is that the main character in the book is really the author talking about her own experiences. The pictures really make the book even more vivid and I really did enjoy this book a lot. Middle school drama is something that is completely real and I love how Smile really shows it.

I like the book Smile because it made me stretch my imagination. At school someone recommend this book to me. Mom got me Sisters I liked it! Then mom got me Smile I SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH LOVED IT! The main persons name is Raina. So in the beginning Raina triped and knocked out one of her teeth. It was at a girl scout meeting. She got one but the other one was GONE!She went to a dentist, her other tooth was stuck up in her gum. In the middle of the book she survived in a earthquake. She also got a retainer. she also got her ears pierced. She used to like a sixth grader, then she started to LOVE Sean!He was good at art! She watched Little Mermaid just because her friend said so. She REALLY REALLY LOVED IT! At the end she made lots of new friends because her old friends and her broke up. At that time she looked happy but sad inside.I think she has courage in herself. I enjoyed this book, I recommend it for you!

Raina Telgemeier is running home from a girl scout's meeting one evening when she trips and smashes her teeth against the sidewalk. This accident leads to several orthodontic treatments, surgeries, and overall a ton of difficulty. Along with this, Raina is just settling into her new 8th-grade environment and struggling with her love life. This true story about the author was funny, relatable, sad, and everything you need in a good book. The comics were very well drawn too.

But Raina told them that they weren't being nice to her, and treating her differently now that she has dental problems. She then tells them that she's done with them, and makes new friends. This part was a good example of standing up for yourself. I loved this book. I recommend it to people who have dental problems. I rate this 5/5.

I loved Smile when I first read it! Although, I do wish I had read it before I got my braces! This book is a true story about a girl named Raina Telgemeier, and her dental life. She goes through a lot, including losing a tooth (Not naturally), Girl Scouts, and much more! If you read the book you'll find out more about her, and I suggest reading her other books too, Sisters, and Drama! I would definitely suggest this book to people who are nervous about getting braces! This book is awesome! It has many pictures and speech bubbles, and it is basically a long comic book.
