Raina Telgemeier's #1 New York Times bestselling, Eisner Award-winning graphic memoir based on her childhood!

Raina just wants to be a normal sixth grader. But one night after Girl Scouts she trips and falls, severely injuring her two front teeth. What follows is a long and frustrating journey with on-again, off-again braces, surgery, embarrassing headgear, and even a retainer with fake teeth attached. And on top of all that, there's still more to deal with: a major earthquake, boy confusion, and friends who turn out to be not so friendly.

Smile is a graphic novel that is about a girl's hardships in middle school when she is teased by "friends" about her dental problems. Rania's dental problems came into her life when she tripped and one tooth fell out, but another got pushed into her gums. She got braces twice, and lots of orthodontist visits. This is a good book for readers that like both comics and real life stories.

Smile was a sit on the edge of your seat type of book. when you read this book its kinda all over the place. First she's at the girls scout meeting and then the next thing you know she's in the middle of the street with her two front teeth missing. Over all though it is a really good book :)

i like this book

Being a braces wearer myself it made for great fun to read about a girl who also has to wear braces. I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more from this author.

I really LOVED this book it was interesting to read about Raina. I felt like I was her and I was experiencing the same things she was.

Family , Friends , Boys... Dental Drama!? A True Story!!!! *warning spoilers ahead* Rains was just a normal 6th grader. Just about to get braces.... Then one night after a scout meeting raina is racing to her front door she trips, falls on her face (OW😰) she checks to see if she broke anything is broken...Nope.....but wait...there's a small puddle of blood on the ground,,,,her front teeth are missing👄 now her life gets a little crazy🙀. .1) headgear 2) on-again~~off-again braces 3) a retainer with fake teeth attached. and on top of all that there's still more to deal with➡ a major earthquake! boy trouble!! And friends who are just really mean!!!!!! 5/5🌟

This comic book is awesome. It is realistic fiction, which means you can probably relate to some of it. It has funny and sad moments. After you read this book, you will probably want to read it again.

Smile is about pre-teen Raina, who just wants to be a normal sixth grader. Unfortunately for her, one night after a Girl Scouts meeting she trips and falls-in the process knocking out her two front teeth. But her dental issues aren't the end of her adventures that year(although they are a highlight). There's boy drama and confusion, betrayal of friends and-an earthquake. This book outlines a lot of "teenager problems", both normal and abnormal. However, I didn't really enjoy the formatting of this book, although that may be part because I don't really read graphic novels. I do think some younger kids would enjoy this book however. I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.
