Well the worth of the penny may go up, as you said. Just because the worth of the dollar will stay the same, does not restrict the worth of a penny from going up. It very well might go up years and years from now, when they become more rare. So, for example, in 2100, a penny may be worth more than $00.01. Yes, I may put a collection of pennies for my future children in my will for when they die, requesting they pass them down, so maybe one day my great, great-great, and even great-great-great grandchildren can hold one. Now of course, no one would be able to stop passing them down, though. BUT longevity is in my family, so I'd very likely be alive when my great grandchildren are alive.
