Best friends. I chose the book “Best Friends” by Shannon Hale because I really enjoyed this book and think a lot of people can relate to it. The genre of this book is realistic fiction and it is a graphic novel. At the beginning of the book, we start in Utah, in a quiet town called Salt Lake City. A girl named Shannon is going into her first day of 6th grade. She is nervous because last year she had trouble keeping friends and she doesn’t want to lose them this year, but then new social rules keep on coming and she doesn't understand them. The story is written from the perspective of Shannon. I feel like Shannon is a good main character; she is believable and relatable. I would recommend this for grades 5-8 because I feel like those are the grades that friends start having bigger problems. I’m giving this book a 9.5/10 rating because it makes people feel like they are not alone with these problems. The illustrations in this book are amazing and fun. I would highly recommend this book.
