you actually dont have to worry about pythons biting! they dont bite or attack (unless your prey, but they dont eat full grown humans, if they did...probably little children. but they are normally digesting food, which takes a LONG time)! so yes. you are able to pet a python (VERY VERY CARFULLY!)

..its not crazy actually! there were prehistoric snakes that got up to 42-50 feet long! that 23 ft long is nothing to them!

it depends on the species and gender. normally the females get that long.
