This book is very intriguing. It makes you ponder race and racial injustice. It is good for ages 12 and up, because of the controversial topics (Rape, lesbiansim, etc...) But it is a very emotional read that just may change your point of view.

Many informative books just throw information at you, hoping that you will just absorb it. But National Geographic books give readers fun, interesting information in learnable ways. When I read National Geographic books, I learn so much, and I feel myself getting smarter. The information is not just fun, but useable in life. There are so many applications for use of these facts, that the possibilities are endless. With theses books, I can promote the company that my school and I love.

This book is marvelous. It's about a girl growing up in a tough family that overcomes it by exploring the wonders of literature. She then finds out that she has special powers that help her and her teacher friend Ms. Honey. Overall, it is an amazing book. I won't spoil anything else, but it's worth the read.
