The book Romiette and Julio by Sharon M. Draper is young adult fiction. Romiette Cappelle is a young adult African- American girl who meets a young Hispanic boy named Julio Montague. After getting to know each other they caught feelings but the school doesn’t accept a Hispanic boy and African- American girl dating. They begin to get harassed by a gang who don’t agree with them dating. The book deals with gangs, murder, racism, and relationships. This is personally one of my favorite books. I love how the author develops the characters and got both POV’s from Romiette and Julio. I would recommend this book to anyone.
