Auction allows you sell for a higher price. Let's say you sell it to a rich collector for 2.5mil, without notifying anyone else. Turns there was an obscenely rich budding collector who was willing to pay double that. And Collector A then sold it to Collector B after hearing the price they would be willing to pay. So Collector A walked away 5mil, Collector B walked away with a ridiculously expensive but really interesting space rock, and you have half of what you could've sold it for.Over 6 years agoatropa223276liked a comment in A Massive Chunk Of The Moon Just Came Up For Sale!.

Why on earth would you pay 2.5mil for a chunk of space rock?? Not trying to be rude, it's just... why? And also, because the price was undisclosed, it's probably a ridiculous amount.Over 6 years agoatropa223276liked a comment in A Massive Chunk Of The Moon Just Came Up For Sale!.
