Teaching my students to enjoy reading non-fiction is a main goal in my classroom. I cannot think of a book that will grab and hold their attention with so many topics of interest. I predict a dog-eared, well-loved copy of the book by year's end. It can also serve as a teaching tool. Choosing one entry and using it as a jumping-off point for a related lesson can encourage discussion, ownership, and interest prior to transitioning to the lesson. I love it when I can trick them into learning!

Dave Barry is a master of humor. Students often complain that the novels we read in class are 'boring.' This is sure to be one that I could read to them and keep their interest. Sometimes it only takes one book to turn a child into a reader.

Gordan Korman is popular with my students. I have not heard of this particular title, but it sounds like so many of my students already! I would love to be able to share this book with my students who have a hard time finding a book they like.
