Dork Diaries 8: Tales from a Not-So-Happily Ever After
By Rachel Renée Russell
This is around my first time reading DORK DIARIES! I haven't read this one yet, but the other one I read was cool. If that one was cool the others will probably be just as good. To me the writing looks exactly like DIARY OF A WIMPY KID! The pictures are different, but it's still written like if a kid wrote. In this case it's Niki's diary so it's like she actually wrote these words even though a grown up named Rachel R. Russell wrote it! I LOVE DORK DIARY! I recommend that you start reading Dork Diary I guarantee you'll get hooked!
The Secret of Sarah Revere
By Ann Rinaldi
Sarah Revere, daughter to a famous Patriot Paul Revere during the American Revolutionary War against Britain in 1775-83. Sarah was thirteen at that time, and her life during the war was very sad but touching. The overlooked historical figure, Dr. Joseph Warren who was friends with the Reveres, but got killed in the ending of the book. Sarah's step-mother, Rachel Walker who was nice woman, listening to the children (16 children from Paul Revere's previous marriage with Sarah Orne and few with Rachel Walker), more than Sarah grandmother, Grandma Revere. Her father, Paul, who often away from home, doing the dangerous missions. I really enjoyed this book, learning even more that I don't know about. - Happy Reading!
Spy School
By Stuart Gibbs
Spy School is a bit cliche, but I think it's still a good book. Ben is a bit insecure and has to prove his worth to his classmates by catching a mole from another organisation, SPYDER. Although the reading level is a bit too easy for me, I still enjoyed the book as it's fast paced and full of action, mystery and adventure. I like the way that the author made the protagonists seem like antagonists at times, so the reader can't be sure about the mole's real identity. We follow Ben as he struggles through the Academy and tries to impress a girl. All in all it's a simple and interesting book to read and spend time on, would probably recommend it to grade 4 or 5 students. Interesting read.
A Walk in Wolf Wood
By Mary Stewart
John and Margaret Begbie, and their family had their family picnic at Black Forest in Germany, and after eating meal, their parents were sleeping. Both John and Margaret heard the man weeping bitterly so they decided to go and explore the woods, and turns out that they had travelled time way back in 14th century, 1348. Back then, people in 1348 doesn't even speak German, only sounds almost like English of what both John and Margaret call, "dream language". During their visit, they had met a man who is eventually werewolf, who is weeping in the ending of the book. But overall, it's pretty good book to read. - Happy Reading!

By Cal Ripken Jr.
This story tells of a story of a rookie pitcher. There was a catcher named Mickey and he was on a team called the Orals. Soon a new picture comes and some of the kids make fun of him but they will soon find out how good he is. In the pitchers first game he did great. Because of Mr. Terupt
By Rob Buyea
Because of "Mr Terupt" by Rob Buyea is an amazing book. It takes places at the beginning of fifth grade in Snow Hill School. The book switches between the points of view Jessica, Alexia, Peter, Luke, Danielle, Anna, and Jeffrey. Jessica is a smart new girl who is having a hard time fitting in. Alexia is a bully who can't decide between being mean or nice. Peter is the class clown and troublemaker. Luke is an academic sort of person. Danielle is teased and doesn't stand up for herself. Anna is an outcast because of her family situation, and Jeffrey despises school. Then they get a brand new teacher named Mr. Terupt who makes school fun. He helps the students get along and become friends. After a horrible tragedy happens, the students learn that even when Mr. Terupt is not there, he still brings them together.I heard Rob Buyea speak about his book at a library. A lot of the things that happen in the book happened in Rob Buyea's classroom, when he taught fourth or fifth grade. I was surprised at how energetic and dramatic Rob Buyea was while he was speaking. It was really interesting to learn how Because of Mr. Terupt was written. Something I really liked about this book was the dollar word project that the students in Mr. Terupt's class did. A is one cent, B is two cents, C is three cents, and so on. The students had to write words whose letters added up to 100 cents, or $1.00. Mr. Terupt was only called Mr. Terupt because Terupt is a dollar word. Examples of dollar words are flurry, grumpy, savory, and awfully. I thought this was a great read. It was moving and showed how people's attitudes towards life can change for the better. I highly suggest it.
