The Wolf Keepers

The Wolf Keepers

By Elise Broach

I picked up this book randomly, and I wasn't even predicting this would be a good book. Twelve-year-old Lizzie Durango and her dad have always had a zoo to call their home. A typical day for Lizzie would be at the zoo, writing in her notebook about the wolves. Everything was fine until Tyler comes along. Tyler Briggs is a runaway who hides in the zoo. He was hiding behind the elephants' cage until Lizzie found him. He had tried to steal the food of a grandmother and her 2 grandchildren. They soon become friends, and Lizzie lets him stay at her apartment. Lizzie's mother passed away when she was just born. Tyler ran away. Tyler stays there until Lizzie's dad finds out he was there. He says it's not safe for him, but Lizzie says it's fine. They go on a camping trip in Karen's truck. They find out she's behind all the wolves getting sick. They also want to find John Muir's lost cabin. Will they stop her and find John Muir's cabin? I rate this book 5/5 and recommend it to camping lovers.

The Perfect Secret (The Perfect Score Series)

The Perfect Secret (The Perfect Score Series)

By Rob Buyea

This is the second book in the Perfect Score series, and it was just as good as the first book, which is not the case in most series. It is in the perspectives of the Recruits again, and they are going on a whole new adventure. You might remember from the first book that the Recruits found out that Mrs. Magenta and Mrs. Woods were related. While keeping their knowledge a secret, they are trying to mend the broken relationship, but it turns out to be harder than they thought. On top of that one secret, the Recruits are keeping secrets from each other because 7th grade isn't what they thought it would be, it is a big giant rollercoaster that they didn't agree to ride on. Randi finds a brother she never knew she had at a gymnastics camp, Gavin and Scott are having trouble with their football coach, Trevor is having family trust issues even though his brother finally got out of the house, and Natalie is trying to keep everyone together . As the Recruits battle through problems they didn't know even existed, they realize their need for each other and come out on top just in time for Christmas. This is a very lovable book that can be very funny but still has a good message. The multiple perspectives show you every view on the events that happen throughout the story. I cannot wait to read the third book and would recommend this series to middle schoolers.

I Capture the Castle

I Capture the Castle

By Dodie Smith

Although I have not finished the book, nor progressed through half of it (since the book is quite thick), I've had a good impression, but I cannot judge the whole book by only reading a small percentage of the book. I will add on to this once I have finished the book. This book is written in the perspective of Cassandra Mortmain, as she writes in her journal on a daily basis.

A Season of Gifts

A Season of Gifts

By Richard Peck

This book was really good. I can relate to the main character, Bob, because he has a younger sibling. Bob and his family just moved in to a shady town with gangs and rude neighbors. Just as they settle in, Bob gets bullied by a group of bad kids. His dad is a preacher and is trying to repair a abandoned church. As they get to know their very strange neighbor, she seems nicer than what people say. Bob's family learns not to judge people by the way they look, and that this town isn't as bad as they think. I recommend this book to people who love realistic fiction and Christmas books.
