Warriors: The Rise of Scourge

Warriors: The Rise of Scourge

By Erin Hunter, Dan Jolley

Tiny is a house cat who lives with his family in a Twolegplace. His siblings, Socks and Ruby, often make fun of him, since he is smaller and weaker than them. One day, this curious young kit ventures out into the woods—and meets a group of wild cats, who give him plenty of scratches...but a deep pit of vengeance and foreboding forms inside him. Vowing to defeat the wild cats one day, he wanders around in the Twolegplace, and happens to get a dog’s tooth stuck in his collar. Everyone thought he had killed the dog himself, and, enjoying the attention, Tiny changes his name to Scourge and leaves his old life behind. And this is how BloodClan came to be. Gathering a band of the toughest cats he knew, Scourge starts to kill other dogs and house cats—but his desire for vengeance was never quenched. Will he continue his terrible reign? The Go-for-Gold Gymnasts: Winning Team (Go-for-Gold Gymnasts, The)

By Dominique Moceanu, Alicia Thompson

Brittany Lee Morgan is an elite gymnast. She and her family moved to Texas so she could go to a world-class gymnastics facility. When she gets there, she comes up with some ideas of conversation starters to talk to the girls there. However, her intentions are mixed up and it causes conflicts between herself and her teammates. When she keeps doing things her way and not listening to her coach, she risks losing her spot on the team as well as almost getting injured. Not only that, but her friend from her old school confessed to her that she spoiled her party when she made everything about her. Even though Brittany seems to have ruined all her friendships, she has not messed up the friendship with her friend Jessie. However, when Brittany notices something about her that nobody has yet, Jessie asks Brittany to keep it a secret. Brittany betrays her trust and tells a coach as well as her team. She now has another conflict within herself- did she do the right thing by telling the coach, or was it wrong of her to tell a secret that wasn't hers to tell? How will she make things right in the end? Overall, I enjoyed this book and I recommend it to people who are interested in gymnastics or like to read books that are realistic about real life situations. I rate this 5/5.

The Case of the Gypsy Goodbye: An Enola Holmes Mystery

The Case of the Gypsy Goodbye: An Enola Holmes Mystery

By Nancy Springer

Before I read all the other Enola Holmes Mysteries I read this the last book. I think it is awesome!!! It is about how Enola and her brothers finally decide to live together instead of Enola always running and hiding from them. Her brothers decide to not force Enola to become a proper lady so they finally all gather together on her 16th birthday.

No Man's Land

No Man's Land

By Susan Campbell Bartoletti

Quite personally, I thought the book was AWESOME! I hated some of the blabbering and lines until the juicy stuff came along. I thought it was pretty sad at the beginning when “Pap” got attacked by an alligator. And it was quite shocking to find out that Tim wasn’t a boy. Knowing all this time from the beginning. The best and most exciting part came when in Shenandoah Valley the battle broke out. Yanks vs Rebs. There were some pretty funny moments in the book. Like when Thrasher ends up eating a whiskey watermelon. I thought that part was pretty amusing. I really thought this one was a good one. Most fictional Civil War books I read are from the point of view from Union, but this one I like because it’s unique and different from most. It gives us a point of view from the Confederates. And so, I think that is interesting. If I were to rate this book from 1 to 10, I’d say a solid 9 and a ½. As the book had exciting and funny and interesting parts for the most part. And all the talking and conversations were interesting but they were probably in the least. If I could recommend this book to anybody, it would probably have to be people interested in the civil war or wondering about it. Because this book is quite the interesting one. A view from the opposing side. The confederates (if that’s your point of view.). Or people who own a confederate flag or have southern heritage. Because they could feel how this kid could feel. This book was REALLY good. And I think it’s definitely worth a read.
