The Berenstain Bears and the Golden Rule (Berenstain Bears/Living Lights)
By Mike Berenstain
In this book it was sisters birthday. she got a locket that one the inside said "do to others what you would have them do to you" sister didn't understand at first but throughout the story she starts to understand. When she went to school the next day the mean girl was being really mean to the new girl then sister realised what the golden rule meant . So she played with the new girl. I recommend this book to younger readers and I rate this book 3/5 stars - Pizzagirl7 😉
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian
By Sherman Alexie
This story is about an Indian teenager named Junior (also named) Arnold Spirit who met a lot of tragedies and obstacles. This book taught me an important lesson: “Life Is Not Perfect”. Some parts in the story were sad and some parts happened so sudden that I wished that I could make changes to it. Also, Junior in the story was really brave, braver than anyone I met before. If I was him, I would never go to that all-white school and I would never join the basketball team. Even if I transferred to the all-white school, I wouldn’t have the courage to meet my one and only friend Rowdy, and I wouldn’t have the guts to talk to my crush Penelope. His persistence determined me that everyone could cross the border and do the same thing that he did. This is a hilarious, sad and awe-inspiring story.
The Uncommoners #2: The Shadows of Doom
By Jennifer Bell
I read this book and the first one which is called The Crooked Sixpence. I really liked this book where a girl and her brother Seth continue their adventure in Lundinor with their Grandma this time. The only thing that I did not get was why the title is The Shadows of Doom because it doesn't have anything like that in the book. Maybe I just didn't notice it, but it does sound pretty scary.
It Wasn't Me
By Dana Alison Levy
I also had to read this for BOTB and honestly, it might have been my favorite of the 10. It was kind of easy to predict, but at the same time the story was really interesting and so I never really had time to think about how it might end, just about what was going on in the moment. It definitely reminds me of a lot of people I know, and I could actually see little pieces of myself in all the characters. I think it was pretty good!!
Brian's Winter
By Gary Paulsen
Lack of food, low supplies-will brian have what it takes to survive? I extremely recommend Brian's Winter, a book by Newbery author Gary Paulson. The book is a branch off of what might have happened if Brian was not rescued in the first book Hatchet. The book is mainly about how the harsh Canadian winter is coming and Brian is not prepared. He has to make new weapons, winterize camp, and physically prepare himself for the conditions. I would recommend this book to people who like suspense, realistic fiction, survival, etc. I would recommend this book to an age group of probably older elementary school through middle school but a great book that anyone can enjoy!
Class Action
By Steven B. Frank
I read this book for BOTB (battle of the books) and I totally thought it was going to be one of those Captain Underpants type books... I stand corrected!!! I actually REALLY enjoyed it! Truth be told, it made me want to pursue a career in law!! Totally recommend this to one and all!! Peace Out - sirireads
