The Space We're In

The Space We're In

By Katya Balen

This book was sad but I like sad books, and I think this taught me a lot. I can't put into words what this book taught me, but it was just really impactful. Also, I love when small details in books come together to form really meaningful, deep sentences, and this book did that quite a few times.

Middle School, The Worst Years of My Life

Middle School, The Worst Years of My Life

By James Patterson, Chris Tebbetts

This book is very humorous, and it is a good choice for anyone looking for a good read. In the book, Rafe Khatchadorian doesn't like the rules in his school, so he decides to break them! He pulls off one prank after another, but can he break all of the rules (which there are many!)? Or will he get caught and be forced to end his career? Read the book to find out! I personally like this novel, because it made me laugh approximately ten times. (I counted) I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Waste of Space (Moon Base Alpha)

Waste of Space (Moon Base Alpha)

By Stuart Gibbs

This is the 3rd and final installment in the Moon Base Alpha series by Stuart Gibbs, and this book was a great conclusion to this series. Dash Gibson is celebrating his birthday, which isn't very exciting as you would think. But his parents are making it work, by getting him candy and letting him go on the moon to play catch, but when Nina catches them, they know they are in trouble. Only thing is, they are not. Instead, Nina needs Dash to solve a case. Lars has been poisoned, and now it's Dash who needs to solve the case before more people get sick. But Dash doesn't want. The only reason he is is because Nina is threatening him to, because if he doesn't, his family may never be able to go home. Will Dash solve the case of who poisoned Lars, or will his family, and many others, continue to be in danger of food poisoning? Stuart Gibbs did it again in this final book in the MBA series, and I give it 4 starts for the mystery and action that took place!

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making

By Catherynne M. Valente

12-year-old September gets whisked out of her bedroom window to Fairyland by the Green Wind. That might seem super fun to you and me, but September has her troubles. She stumbles upon the peculiar witches Hello, Goodbye, and Manythanks. Goodbye asked her to fetch a spoon the evil ruler of Fairyland, the Marquess, had taken. So off September goes on her quest. On the way to the Marquess's palace she meets the dragon-like creature Wyvern who September decides to call Ell. His real name is A-through-L, because when he was a young dragon he lived a an old yet homey library and only made it through the encyclopedias A-through-L. Ask him anything that begins with a letter within range, and he'll answer it. His wings are bound up in chains from the Marquess. The duo continue on the quest and arrive at a cove of cages, where only one is filled. A little boy named Saturday with pale blue skin vacates that one lonely cage. September ignores all warnings and breaks Saturday out. Saturday can grant wishes if he is beaten in a wrestling match fair and square. Now, the trio travel along to fulfill the quest. September meets the Marquess, a horrible little girl who couldn't be much older than September herself. The Marquess tries to sweet talk September but ends up sending her oin another quest, one to get a sword for her. If the quest isn't fulfilled in 7 days, they die. On this journey, September endures even more- for example, becoming a tree! Yikes! Then her new friends are captured and she has no choice but to circumnavigate Fairyland in a ship of her own making (hence the title). Shivering and starving, can September free her friends before time runs out? I really liked this book, 4/5 stars. I feel like the book started way too quickly though (she gets taken to Fairyland literally on the first page with practically no background of her life at home) Other than that, a great book!
