The Tea Dragon Society

The Tea Dragon Society

By Katie O'Neill

I think this is a very wholesome book. From what i've read, this book is about an iron forger named Greta who one day comes across a small creature being attacked by wolves. She manages to distract the wolves with a slab of meat and takes the creature back home, soon figuring out that it is a tea dragon. She decides to start learning about taking care of tea dragons and meets a forgetful, introverted girl named Minette in the process. It takes a while, but they become friends and eventually build back up the tea dragon society which was once destroyed long ago, with the help of mentors and friends.

The Amnesia Clinic

The Amnesia Clinic

By James Scudamore

James Scudamore’s novel The Amnesia Clinic which has two main protagonists, Anthony, also known as Anti, and Fabián, whose friendship is based on fictitious storytelling, is based on them trying to find an “Amnesia Clinic”. The whole story spans over about a week, so it was expected from the author to introduce a lot of detail, which has been done in a thorough manner, however beware for the use of various, not that often used, words, or even swear words, which appear more towards the end as tension grows. I often found myself imagining the picture of what was happening thanks to the very vivid and thorough descriptions and images, which could span over a whole page. The concept of the novel is very... interesting to say the least. Even though the main goal is to find and reach the “Amnesia Clinic”, it is not the main focus. The main focus is on the surroundings and other sub-stories, which happen throughout their journey. I find this book interesting for its focus on how lies may become an important, or rather crucial, part of a person’s life after certain, perhaps tragic, events, like the death of one’s parents. Even though the story in itself wasn’t that interesting to me for the most part, I find it excellent for analysis purposes and for thinking about.

Pride and Prejudice (Marvel Illustrated)

Pride and Prejudice (Marvel Illustrated)

By Jane Austen

bsc

I am normally not one for classic novels, but Pride and Prejudice was something else! Elizabeth Bennet, known as "Lizzy" or "Eliza" does not wish to get married. She knows what she wants for a man and has her own standards. The Bennet family meet many men, many who end up marrying one of the 6 Bennet girls. Refusing to proposals many times, Lizzy is still grounded and marry when she finds the right man and does what she pleases. So when Lizzy meets Mr. Darcy, a selfish and inconsiderate man that always seems to want to be around Lizzy, Lizzy shuts him out. She describes him as "selfish" and only "self considerate" and "horrible man". But Lizzy finds something else about him. Something different than other men. A nagging Mrs. Bennet thinks this might be the last chance for Lizzy to marry. Will Mr. Darcy be the one? Or will he be another refused proposal? A lovely classic novel with a feminist vibe. Happy reading!

Princess and Curdie

Princess and Curdie

By George MacDonald

The Princess and Curdie is supposed to be a sequel to The Princess and the Goblin, but I read it first anyways. It was pretty easy to understand. Curdie is a boy and is given a gift by the princess's great-great grandmother. He is able to hold anyone's hand, and he can feel what the true person is. For example, a person who cheats on another would have a hand of a snake (skin?). Anyways, he is sent on a quest to help the real princess's father, the king. Along the way, he is aided by Lina, who is a malformed dog. Together, they must save the kingdom. It was a good book, just written in a really strange way. Like hundreds of years ago. I really didn't like the ending. Maybe you'll like it more than me!

When a librarian recommended this book I was confused because of the title. now that I read it, it's safe to say this book was amazing. So many stones unturned, so many stones turned-well actually only one- so many great-no AWSOME characters. My friend (who knows I read WAY to much) wanted me to try this book and I told her I've already read it. I really recommend this book it was amazing.

Tigers at Twilight, #19

Tigers at Twilight, #19

By Mary Pope Osborne

This book is about Jack, Annie, and a dog continuing their adventures by going to a forest in India and getting trapped and almost killed by wildlife. The things that are scaring them the most are the tigers. I made a connection with this book because i read another one of these books and it was really good and interesting. I gave this book a four star because it can get a little borrowing at some points but mostly it is fun to read and makes you know a little more a bout wildlife.
