This is a very engaging book that sends chills up your spine. I have read it multiple times and loved every minute of it, even when it creeped me out a little bit. The main character is named Cassidy and her best friend is a ghost.....no she is not crazy.....Jacob is a real ghost. Ever since Cassidy drowned and Jacob saved her life she has been able to cross between the world of the living and the world of the dead. She calls this 'the veil' because in order to cross over she pulls on a curtain in the air and enters the ghost world. Whenever a ghost is in the veil she hears a tap-tap-tap and is pulled towards it in order to pull back the curtain. Jacob does not like it when Cassidy does this, and neither does she, but 'the veil' calls to her and makes her wonder if there is something she should be doing in the mysterious place. To make matters worse, her parents decide to host a TV show on the most haunted places in the world, and they head off to Scotland, instead of the nice beach vacation that Cassidy had planned. She learns that Scotland is filled with ghosts and sometimes the pull of 'the veil' is too strong for her to resist and it sucks her into the land of the dead without her pulling on the curtain. Jacob gets dragged along, much to his irritation, and Cassidy meets another girl with her same talent, who Jacob doesn't like one bit. She realizes that she has much to learn about 'the veil' and that it is more dangerous than she initially thought. The girl informs her that she has a job to do instead of lugging her precious old-fashioned camera around and taking pictures in the hopes that one will turn out with ghost pictures instead of blurry shadows. This book keeps you turning pages so that you never want to stop. "The City of Ghosts" can get pretty scary, but not too bad, after all, I don't usually like scary books but this one surprised me and I love it a lot. I would recommend this book to middle schoolers who enjoy realistic fantasy with a little twist.

So, in this book, it is all about Kendra and Seth again. There is an weird plague going around, changing light creatures into dark creatures- and someone has to sacrifice themselves to stop it. It all began when the Phoenix was realized to be evil. That was when he started making a LOT of trouble... The thing is, this was an amazing book, with so many plots and surprises. This was a book that I just could not forget. I read this like, at the beginning of this year, but I remember it so clearly.

Absolutely wonderful! Great job bringing awareness to the events of 911 without leaving my son sad and depressed. Multiple story lines converging at the end made the suspense to great that he had to finish the book. He's read it twice and puts it up there with Orbiting Jupitet. Great read and great teaching lesson!

This book is cool! I think that if you like books like Clovis keeps his cool this is an excellent choice for you . This book talks about a girl who keeps fidgeting with every thing she sees .But no one is proud they are all mad. But at the end she saves the day. This book inspired me to realize that no one has to be the same. so I think the theme is don't let anyone dull your sparkle . so all in all this book is amazing.

I love this book I wanted to read more and more every moment! I think the theme is don't let anyone dull your sparkle. I think that because Ms. Roopy (the teacher) is always being herself and that is how everyone likes her. I know that she is dressing up like others , but that is her way of being her self. Now if you like to be exited about reading you should really really try this book!

Its a really good book! Its about a girl whose grandma came to live with them but she only knows a little bit of English so she tries to teach her English, and her grandmas trying to teach her Spanish, and so they get a parrot to help both of them learn the different languages

Hi I am Aqua-Dog and Big Nate is personally one of my favorite seiries in the book world. Nate Wright has a older sister Ellen and a fat old dad. Nate loves writing comics and gets in detention by Mrs. Godfrey, his social studies teacher. Nate loves to play but also gets in trouble too much. Well, a sixth grader who is four and half feet tall isn’t your everyday classmate. His friend teddy is a friend like nate but more mature and less funny. Francis, Nate’s other friend is a nerd he always gets good grades. Nate also has crushes. Jenny Nate’s girlfriend dosent like him and something goes wrong every single time nate sees Jenny. One time in another book Nate offered to give a popsicle to Jenny at the beach and then a frisbee from another person went flying over his head and accidentally slipped into her bathing suit and nate got punched by Jenny. Patrice Barton’s soft colors and pictures bring such a light, gentle glow to the story. Every pink cheek, ponytail, and freckle came to life on the page with warmth and tenderness. Beautiful pictures that illustrated Brian’s feelings and changes perfectly. My heart broke and “aww”-ed all over the place. :) This little boy and book stole my heart! I want to recommend it to everyone under the sun! A very special reading experience and life lesson. Don't disappear! Let people see you. A lesson I took to heart.

The book is about a girl named Zuri and her mom always styled her hair. And Zuri always loved her hair to be in any different style. When her mom went to the hospital Zuri could not style her hair because her mom always did it and now she can't. Once she found a hair style that she really liked and she asked her dad to do it but no matter how hard he tried he still could not do it. Then Zuri showed her dad a video how her mom did it for her so he followed the video and BAM! There it was an awesome hair style. Zuri and her dad went to go visit her mom and her mom was super proud. This made me realize to believe in myself and it will all work out. If you like sad story with happy ending than this book it for you.

This book is told by so many peoples perspective, one who has lived though a fire and saved nothing just tried to get out as quick as she could. Most of the people had something really important to them, maybe some wanted to save their xbox or something like that. This book shows everyone's perspective to what THEY would save, not their friend or their mom what THEY would save. This book was good for the most part, but some times it's sorta hard to tell whos perspective it is. But I do recommend The One Thing You'd Save.
