Stacey's Emergency (Baby-Sitters Club, 43)
By Ann M. Martin
Stacey has been battling diabetes for a couple of years now. But recently, it's become harder for her to resist sugar. Although she knows sweets could make her go to the hospital, Stacey convinces herself that she needs it. After all, school has been difficult recently. But then everything changes. Stacey finds herself in the hospital. Stacey and the other BSC girls are scared. Has Stacey pushed herself too far? This book was a real page-turner. It was dramatic and fun to read. The author really gets the reader into the story. Sometimes it feels like the book is real, like Stacey and her issues are not a work of fiction. The author describes through Stacey the struggles of being a diabetic. This book was realistic and one of the best BSC books ever. I suggest if you like babysitting, friendship, and drama.
Dawn's Big Move (The Baby-Sitters Club)
By Ann M. Martin
Ever since Dawn's parents got divorced, Dawn has never felt like she has belonged anywhere. Yes, she had amazing friends in Stoneybrook and of course, the BSC. But she also misses the warm beaches of California, and most of all, she misses her dad and brother. So, when Dawn proposes that she wants to go back to California for 6 months, she begins to have second thoughts. Dawn feels torn; how could she leave her friends in Stoneybrook but also see her father and brother all the way in California? This book was very funny, enjoyable to read, and a little sad. From the first chapter, the reader can identify Dawn's longing for California. The book was very well written. If the author had not done a great job, the reader may have thought Dawn didn't like her friends or her mom. But Ann M. Martin paints Dawn as normal girl who only wants to be with her family. The end of the book was bittersweet. I walked away from the book feeling sad, surprised, and expectant for the next book. The reader will definitely be surprised by the ending. I suggest if you like reading about family drama, friendship, and babysitting. Happy reading!
Maid Mary Anne (Baby-Sitters Club #66)
By Ann M. Martin
Feeling as if she is too "self-centered" and "self-involved", Mary Anne sets out to be as selfless and helpful as she can be. An opportunity comes when her elderly neighbor, Mrs. Towne, falls and breaks her ankle. In exchange for sewing lessons, Mary Anne helps keep Mrs. Towne's house clean while Mrs. Towne recovers. But after a while, Mary Anne realizes that she doesn't have time or energy to do anything she wants to do, like hang out the BSC girls or Logan. Mary Anne feels as though she is always spending her time at Mrs. Towne's house, cleaning. Could it be that Mary Anne is being taken advantage of? This book reminded me of my grandmother. Her and I love to sew, so this book was close to home for me. I thought this book was so sweet and a little sad. It made me thankful for family and caring people. I also think after reading this book, everyone can appreciate Mary Anne's attitude. She is kind, selfless, patient, and compassionate. I thought this book was wonderful and would suggest if you like babysitting, taking care of others, and friendship. Happy reading!

Sherlock Holmes re-told for children : The Red-Headed League: Large Print Edition (Classics For Kids) (Volume 3)
By Mark Williams
This book opens with Jabez Wilson, a pawnbroker with unique blazing red hair, visiting Sherlock Holmes to ask for help about a mysterious job he and Wilson had been working. For the simple task of copying parts of a book for a few hours each day, Wilson was paid an amount by a Red-headed League; but suddenly, the Red-headed League disappeared. Holmes investigated and concluded that Vincent Spaulding, who had just recently begun working as an assistant at Wilson's shop and had shown Wilson the Red-headed League's advertisement in a newspaper, is the infamous criminal, John Clay. He figures out Clay had been using the scam of the Red-Headed League to keep Wilson out of his shop so that Clay, along with some accomplice, could dig a tunnel to the vault of a neighboring bank. Along with a bank manager and a police chief, Holmes sets up an ambush in the bank vault and captures the criminals. This is the first sherlock holmes I read. And its amazing!
