Stand Up, Yumi Chung!
By Jessica Kim
Stand Up Yumi Chung is a great book that inspires kids of all ages to be your true self. Yumi Chung loves comedy, only her parents don't approve of it. They want Yumi to be more like her sister and focus on her education to get good job. They even send her to a tutoring place to get her prepared! However, when Yumi finds out there is a comedy club right where she lives, she can't resist going inside, and that's when things start to get weird. Yumi gets mistaken for an absent girl named Kay, and Yumi doesn't correct them. It's her chance to be who SHE wants to be, and not her parents. But what will happen when her parents and new friends from comedy camp figure out about her identity? How can she balance both her lives and not let her secret slip, especially when her family restaurant is losing money? Yumi is forced to make a choice: Either be the person she wants to be, or let her parents decide her future for her. This book has everything to show that just being yourself is enough, and you get to do whatever makes you happy in life. I rate this book 4 stars!

The River Sea? What's dattt? As it turns out, the river sea is just another name for the AMAZON, the second longest river on earth. The story is about Maia, who is thirteen years old and now an ORPHAN! She has to leave London for Brazil, where her relatives own a rubber plantation. It's the early 1900s, so after meeting her new governess Miss Minton, she travels on steamship to the Amazon Rainforest. On the ship, she meets a child actor by the name of Clovis who wants to go back to England and eat pudding. On arriving, Maia discovers that the Carters are not as she imagined them. Mrs. Carter is obsessed with cleanliness and kills any bug that enters the house with her flit gun! And Mr. Carter's business is going badly, but he will NOT sell his precious glass eyeball collection. And the TWINS are very mean and like cheese. But Mai's life changes when she meets Finn, the son of a well-known naturalist who has to escape the CROWS, two PEOPLE who want to get him back to his ancestral home in England. Finn concocts a plan involving both Clovis and Maia. But will it work? Stuff will happen! At first, I did not think that I would like this book, but it's really interesting and funny.

Really creepy. The game is also really scary, and this handbook is technically a guide. Really scary, and some deaths. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED TO PEOPLE WHO ARE YOUNG OR HATE BLOOD.

The Carpet People
By Terry Pratchett
The CARPET. To the carpet people, its vastness knows no bounds. These tiny people are so small that their city, Ware is the size of a period. But living on the carpet can have its dangers. For example, FRAY, the absolutely terrifying natural phenomenon that destroys entire cities. One day the members of the Munrung tribe are peacefully minding their own business when suddenly, FRAY destroys the village! So Snibril, a Munrung, and his brother, Glurk lead the tribe across the Carpet. BUT, they run into Mouls, evil beings who use Fray to conquer cities. How will Snibril stop the Mouls? And where will they settle? The book was really funny and I liked it.

Pax
By Sara Pennypacker
My dog once ran away and I thought I lost her for good and missed her so much when I went to look for her. This book is about a fox named pax and a boy named peter. Peter has known Pax ever since he was a kit. But one day Peter's dad enlisted in the military, which leads to him demanding Peter to send his fox back into the forest/wild. Once it's time for Peter's dad to leave he sends Pax out in the forest and Peter to his grandparents' house. There he decides he isn't with who he wants to be and sneaks out to find Pax. Peter had a lot of adventure trying to find him, but so did Pax. My connection to this book is when I lost my dog a had that same feeling of sadness and the only thing I wanted was her so I was determined to get her.
