Kristy and the Snobs (The Baby-Sitters Club #11)

Kristy and the Snobs (The Baby-Sitters Club #11)

By Ann Matthews Martin

Another great work of Ann M. Martin. She is a master! Kristy Thomas, president of the BSC and one of my favorite BSC members (Stacey is my other favorite!), has recently moved because her mother has remarried. But her new stepfather is rich, so thus she moves into a ritzy neighborhood where one of her neighbors has a tennis court in her backyard! Kristy is feeing let down and not worthy. But when something unexpected and sad happens to Kristy and her family, she becomes more comfortable with her new neighborhood, and she even makes a new friend! I suggest this for people who like friendship, babysitters, and animals! 5 stars!

All Creatures Great and Small

All Creatures Great and Small

By James Herriot

This book is so good! My family and I are reading it as an audiobook, and it are just amazing! James Herriot is a new vet who comes to England from Scotland to be an assistant to a man named Siegfried Farnon. Here James has many adventures from crazy cows to pampered dogs, James has his hands full. This book is just amazing. If DOGO would have allowed it, I would have put 6 stars. One of my favorite books. It really captures your heart, and you fall in love with the characters like Tristin, Siegfried's lovable, younger brother who can't do anything right or Tricki, a sweet, pampered dog, or Helen, a strong, confident girl whom James falls in love with. Every chapter is poetic, weaving in humor but also teaching about the difficulties there were as a vet in the mid 1900s. Everything about this book is amazing. I suggest it for 10+ for language, there is words that would not be appropriate for young readers. If you like animals, English books, and hilarious books, this is the book for you. This book is a mixture of humor, but it is also sweet. Some chapters will have you crying, and others will have you laughing so hard you are crying. James Herriot allows the reader a perceptive that I have never had in a book. You get to hear what he is thinking, which I think is splendid. There are also very funny lines in the book like when Siegfried was yelling at Tristin he said, "You bloody fool! You're sacked!" Overall, a great book. 5 stars for sure!

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, Book 2 The Hammer of Thor

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, Book 2 The Hammer of Thor

By Unknown

This Norse mythology masterpiece is written by Rick Riordan, the king of mythology writing. Unlike most of his books which are Greek mythology, this series Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard is Norse . I found it really unique that Mr.Riordan is writing Norse because it's something that took most of his readers (including me) by surprise. The Hammer of Thor is filled with laughs, action, and little tidbits from Norse mythology which makes learning about it fun, and is (in my opinion) better than The Sword of Summer Book 1. The one thing that blew me away was how Mr.Riordan incorporated his characters (Percy and Annabeth) from other books into his newest instalment of books, something I think is really hard and amazing and made the book even more fun to read. My friends described this book as "litty" but I call it a masterpiece (one of Riordan's best books yet) and is beautifully written. I do suggest reading the first book and of course reading the third book after #2. I recommend this for ages 9+ and die-hard Rick Riordan fans and give it 5/5 stars. HAPPY READINGS! All things bright and beautiful

All things bright and beautiful

By James Herriot

"All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful, the Lord God has made them all." Dedicating this book to his wife, Helen, James Herriot takes the reader through the Dales of England to his and Siegfried Farnon's veterinarian practice. Newly married and now an official vet partner with Siegfried, James begins his new life with Helen close by his side. With humor, grace, and wisdom, James describes the interesting days he had healing animals. Like the first book, "All Creatures Great and Small", Herriot weaves in humor but also shows the daily struggles a vet had. I enjoyed how, still, James is so matter of fact. He is not embarrassed to tell of his mistakes. Still keeping the same format and layout of the first book, James rekindles the essence of old characters like Tristan, Siegfried's lovable, little brother who is a fresh graduate from veterinary school and who constantly is getting into trouble and briefly introduces new ones like Pip, a once stray border terrier who was adopted by a nice elderly couple. Also, through this book you can see how much James loves Helen. He adores her and respects her. Helen, still headstrong and confident, is loved by everyone who meets her, and it is apparent through the way James Herriot illustrates her with his words. All and all, I think this book is exceptional. So far, this book is not half as bad with foul language, but I would still suggest this book for 10 and up for some language. I hope you enjoy this book just as much as my family and I are. It truly is heartwarming, sensitive, and sweet but still exceptionally funny. Totally a great sequel to the first book. Happy reading!
