In this book, Brian Selznick does an outstanding job capturing each and every emotion within this book and turning it into the awe-striking illustration that just adds to the buildup of suspense created within every page. As a young boy, Hugo Cabret spends most of his young childhood with his beloved father learning, loving and cherishing each and every moment they share together; which mostly involves tinkering with the many parts and pieces his father saves from his studies at the museum. After his father passes in a perilous fire incident, Hugo is then sent off to live with his only relative left, his uncle, who teaches him the ways of life setting and living in the clocks of a busy Paris train station. As his uncle is a strong alcoholic, Hugo is basically orphaned, for his uncle disappears every night to soon be never seen again. Now, without an adult guardian for supervision, Hugo everyday risks being caught and sent away to an orphanage in his fight to find out the true use for the automaton his father left behind, as well as why everybody else is so caught up in trying to stop him, and possibly take the last piece of his father that Hugo has left to hold close to his heart...

this is a good book series about two brothers. I'm not going to spoil anything but it's a great book series and I definitely recommend it :]

This book is SO amazing. Every page is like a poem or a song. It’s so beautiful! I love books about people who are different races, orientations, with disabilities, etc. Calliope is a great protagonist. She is brave (like the poppy). She always can help others and knows when to do the right thing. She wishes she was different. I can relate to her personality, because I am kind and I help others, but I also feel bad about myself, and I’m not confident. If you read this book, you will definitely cry, laugh, and learn new things. Tourette’s syndrome is usually misjudged. People think people with Tourette’s are angry 24/7, curse 24/7, and hurt others physically and mentally. Calliope is the opposite of that. She is kind, funny, loving, and a great friend. Jingsong is a great sub-protagonist as well. He is caring, and he stands up for others. When others were teasing and bullying Calliope, he protected her and had a gut feeling that he needs to take action. I believe we all need to be like Jingsong,(of course, without the punching) and stand up for what is right. I definitely recommend this to everyone. The different character Arcs and perspectives are a great way to fill in details that the readers want to know more about. I love the verse writing so much for Calliope, and Jingsongs perspective are so detailed and many poem-esc vibes are in the text. I want this author to write a sequel or another book like this. This book is HORRIBLE. I was reading it at my school library, and I was like, 'What do the Authors of this book want this generation of kids living in?' I've seen many of my classmates imitating those disgusting 'memes' in class. Don't get me wrong, I like playing Fortnite. I just don't feel like making fun of a nice game. Its just, UGH. You should try and appreciate the normal game and not photoshop it and add disgusting 'captions' to it.

I highly recommend this book - please give it a try! This book fit right in the "dystopia" label, honestly - even though I completely fell for this book my first time reading it, I grew a little more critical the next few times around.. I felt like the "star-crossed lovers" cliché didn't exactly "fit" Katniss and Peeta - I felt like Katniss would be better off with her sister, Prim, even in the absolutely terrible conditions of District 12 - that would have been a "happy ending" for her. Instead, Katniss is stuck in a confusing love triangle between basically useless Peeta and her long-time friend, Gale, and I feel like even though the bloody Hunger Games is supposed to be the "main" storyline of the series, the whole overwhelming romance thing just pushes everything else aside. Aside from the cheesy "romance" side of this series, I absolutely loved some parts of the book - the sacrifice Katniss made for Prim felt so.. so heartbreaking, but I was absolutely devastated when a specific friend of Katniss died in her arms.. The emotional aspect of such an event was so well captured in this book, how heartbreaking it would be to lose your family or friends.. I could not stop sobbing. This outshone the "romance" storyline for me, and now, I am happy to say that I believe that Suzanne Collins wrote an absolutely breathtaking novel.. thank you.
