I think this story is for both boys and girls because the author switched off between chapters for the boys, and the girls. I think the message in this story is ''never give up''. But things get a little tricky when Josh starts liking Beth, and Beth starts liking Josh. I think this story is appropriate for both boys and girls because it switches off between chapters on the girls perspective and the boys perspective. I think the message in this story is ''If you lie about something bad you did, it just makes it worse''. I hope you like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
