Restore Me (Shatter Me)

Restore Me (Shatter Me)

By Tahereh Mafi

Wow. No words. This book though heavy on government and politics was easy to race through. I thoroughly cannot wait to read Book 5!

Shadow Me (Shatter Me Novella Book 3)

Shadow Me (Shatter Me Novella Book 3)

By Tahereh Mafi

Actual rating - 3.75( more of three star than 4 though) This honestly wasn't really amazing. It was pretty repetitive, especially after reading Restore Me. This is not really one of the more necessary novellas.

Fever 1793

Fever 1793

By Laurie Halse Anderson

Fever 1793 brings the terrible yellow fever to life with a plotline full of sadness, violence, terror; the story of Matilda "Mattie" Cook. Any student who loves to learn about history will appreciate the full story of this book, but viewing as strictly an education historical fiction is not doing its suspenseful, action-packed, amazing story justice. This book has so much excitement, emotion, and adrenaline-pumping action that even a history-hating reluctant reader will devour the story. I love Fever 1793 because it lets the reader see the yellow fever outbreak in a new incarnation. Even if you're already familiar with this historical event, reading Fever 1793 will let you hear the events you know in a new, exciting, interesting way. This book, narrated in the first person by Mattie, the protagonist, makes the reader feel as though her or she personally knows the struggles of a child or teen living during the yellow fever outbreak. It gives a glimpse into the devouring fears, nightmarish scenes, and body-filled, filthy streets of some places in America in 1793. The reader will be left with lingering, longing desires to read this book again and again. If you enjoy books that are gripping, realistic, bloody, emotional, and nightmarish like I do, you will thoroughly enjoy your reading of Fever 1793. Even if violence or disease scares you, I encourage you to try reading Fever 1793. It has a value in both interesting and educational departments, and I think it could be enjoyed by any reader at all.

The School is Alive!: A Branches Book (Eerie Elementary #1)

The School is Alive!: A Branches Book (Eerie Elementary #1)

By Jack Chabert

"School just got scarier!"- Sam Graves is Eerie Elementary's hall monitor. He has to wear an orange sash. On his first day as hall monitor, Sam Graves discovers that his school is alive and is hungry for kids! Only Sam can defeat the school, and his friends decide to help, too! The story ends like a normal book, but the middle was great! The book was very quick, but still enjoyable. The beginning was good but I think the rest is better. My favorite part is when Antonio's PB&J sandwich saves his friends.. The drawings are really good and probably took a while to work on! I would say it would take 40+ minutes to read this book. I loved how there was an illustration on every page. Jack Chabert and Sam Ricks published this book on June 24, 2014. Jack Chabert was once a hall monitor just like Sam, but his school was not alive. Today, Jack Chabert monitors the halls a different building: an apartment. Sam Ricks went to a haunted grade school, but just like Jack's school, it was not alive. He teaches illustration and design at an art institute. At the end of the book, Sam knew it would be a while before the school strikes again, so he has a lot of time to train himself before the school rises again! I think the book would be better if there was little minions that Sam had to fight, but even without them it is still an amazing book! I am looking forward to reading the second book of the Eerie Elementary series! I enjoyed this book and I give a 5/5. I recommend this book to anybody who thinks school is scary enough.

A Dog's Purpose

A Dog's Purpose

By W. Bruce Cameron

One dog, three different lives, and one ultimate purpose to find! I just finished this book and it was so touching and just totally great! An intelligent dog trying to find his purpose in life ends up having 3 lives to fulfill it! Each life is different, including Bailey, the perfect golden retriever pup, to Ellie, a German Shepard, who is part of the K9 unit at the police station! I, for one, got really emotional at several parts in the book! There is adventure, drama, suspense, comedy... practically everything wrapped up with a bow and handed to you in one amazing, heartfelt book. This will change the way you look at dogs forever. I would recommend it to readers 5th grade and up!

Goldie (The Puppy Place)

Goldie (The Puppy Place)

By Ellen Miles

I really really really love puppies! That's how I discovered the puppy palace. This was my favorite book in that series! I can also relate to it in a way. My mom won't let me have a puppy of my own because it is too much responsibility. So instead we foster them In till they find their forever home. Our house is full of puppies and cute dogs. Maybe one day I'll get a puppy of my own.

The Gum-Chewing Rattler

The Gum-Chewing Rattler

By Joe Hayes

I really like this book. I think you should read it! I read it because the author Joe Hays was coming to visit my school. It's about him and how he was always chewing gum. But one day, the gum in his pocket really saved him from a rattle snake's bite! I won't tell you much more,so you have to read the book to find out more!

Wish

Wish

By Barbara O'Connor

''With a little luck, you can get what you wish for''- This book is, hands down, literally the BEST book I have ever read. I knew immediately from the cover of the book this would be a good book. Wish is about a girl named Charlie who has 2 parents that argue and fight all the time. She already knows her mother is probably not even thinking about her, looking up at the ceiling and drinking diet coke for supper. Her dad is in jail and probably doesn't think about her, either. She was sent to live with her uncle and aunt, and her older sister Jackie is left back in their town. Charlie is forced to leave her home, sister, school, and friends. Everyone in her new school treats her like she has cooties. Until she meets Howard. With the help of her new friend, they capture a stray dog, a dog that seems to be the perfect match for Charlie. A stray who has no true family, like her. She falls in love with it immediately. She plans to name it Wishbone, and makes an oath to capture and keep the dog. Howard's plan helps her catch the dog. Her sister, Jackie, comes to visit. She tells her when she leaves, that nothing will change about their family. At the end of the book, she no longer wants to leave the city. She could've, but she wanted to stay with her aunt and uncle. Her aunt told her the same thing Jackie said, nothing would change. But there was a chance she had to leave. With a little luck, she stays in the city. But the most important thing happened- She had a true family. Her wish finally came true. This book is so emotional! I highly recommend it.
