The Curse of Maleficent: The Tale of a Sleeping Beauty
By Elizabeth Rudnick
I've always liked the tale of Sleeping Beauty, so I might be biased-BUT, this book was absolutely STUPENDOUS, period. Maleficent wasn't always evil, she used to be a kind faerie. Then a human named Stephen came along. He betrayed her by cutting off her wings, only because he wanted the throne. Maleficent responded by cursing his baby, Aurora. Time passes, and Maleficent finally decides to bring teen Aurora to the Moors, a.k.a the land of faeries. They grew closer to each other every night, until the day of the curse had come. Will Aurora find out the truth of Maleficent? Has Maleficent's heart been changed? Find out in this wonderful, engaging book! Like I said before, I personally loved it! I think it was the perfect backstory to go with the movie. Some reasons why I liked this book are: I liked how they showed Maleficent wasn't always bad, and how the author gave more to the story. I also liked it because of the characters. From Aurora to the three faeries that looked after her, the characters made the book more interesting. I would recommend this book for: Ages 8+, fairy tale lovers, and people looking for a good book.
Bungo Stray Dogs, Vol. 2 (light novel): Osamu Dazai and the Dark Era (Bungo Stray Dogs (light novel))
By Kafka Asagiri, Sango Harukawa
Wow it's cool
The Secret of the Shamrock (Chime Travelers)
By Lisa M. Hendey
Our second grade class really enjoyed the time travel and loved giving Shep an Irish accent. We go to a Catholic school, so we were very familiar with all the things about the Church and sacraments. We liked the part when Patrick threw a rock at the sailor even though we know that isn't usually a good thing to do. Can't wait to read more Chime Traveler stories!
Fablehaven, Book 5:Keys to the Demon Prison
By Brandon Mull
I adore this book! It is my favorite in the whole world! I have read a ton of books but nothing beats this one. Read this for sure, but don't miss out on the beginning of the series. There is also a sequal series in progress too. Don't miss Brandon Mull's other books!
Warriors Super Edition: Graystripe's Vow
By Erin Hunter
Infinity stars--First of all, let me just say that this book made me SPEECHLESS. Speechless in a good way. It was beautiful, and heartbreaking, and...I don't have the words to describe it. Graystripe's Vow was absolutely amazing! Important life advice: go to the library right now and READ THIS BOOK!!! So, I'm a Warriors superfan, and I've been reading this series for about two years. When Graystripe's Vow finally came out, I was SO excited. I absolutely NEEDED to read this! As soon as I checked out this book from the library, I started flipping the pages in anticipation. And boy, was I in for a real treat. --Summary: I expected a lot from this book, and as usual, Erin Hunter did not disappoint. Graystripe's Vow is packed with action, heartbreak, and suspense. The book centers around ThunderClan, a group of wild cats that live around a lake. These cats hunt, fight for territory, and look after each other. There are also four other Clans, called SkyClan, ShadowClan, WindClan, and RiverClan. All five Clans are reeling from a recent event that shook them to their cores. A dead spirit cat took over the body of ThunderClan's leader, causing havoc. Now, the spirit cat is a prisoner in ShadowClan, but the Clans' problems aren't over. ThunderClan is broken, shocked by what happened to their leader. To try and help his Clan, a cat named Graystripe journeys into his past and goes on a mission that might change the fate of all the Clans. Will his mission succeed? --Characters: I LOVED all the characters in this book, especially Graystripe. He's brave, loyal, intelligent, and caring. I think Graystripe is one of the most amazing heroes in the entire Warriors series! I also liked Gremlin, Fang, and the WarriorClan cats (Monkeystar and her friends were hilarious!). I do wish some of the side characters, like Squirrelflight, Flywhisker, Flipclaw, the Tribe of Rushing Water, the kittypets, and Ashfur would have appeared more in the story. --Lastly, I have three things to say: 1) I loved this book. 2) I LOVED THIS BOOK! 3) DID I MENTION THAT I LOVED THIS BOOK?!?! Graystripe's Vow is now one of my favorite books, and I think everyone needs to read it! I would DEFINITELY recommend this book!

They don't want their friend to be in danger so they decide to try and figure it out theirselves. Will their plan work? Or will it go disastrously wrong like all plans seem to do when Call is around?

The DragonBone Chair by Tad Williams. It’s about a boy named Seoman. His name was changed to Simon because you can only have certain names in the HayHolt. Simon's life starts in the HayHolt. He was a Scallion boy. It meant that he was a kitchen boy. He messed around a lot. He once climbed Green Angel Tower and almost fell off. He soon became Morgene the doctor’s aprintess. One day when he was messing around he went into the cellar. He saw red eyes and heard mumbling. The person was Prytes. Prytes was a priest until King John died. King John’s Elias soon became king after he attacked his brother Joshua. Joshua soon went missing. He appointed Prytes to become the king's hand. Simon had to get out of the cellar. He found a ladder to climb out of the cellar but Prytes noticed him and said, “Who’s there?” Simon looks at Prytes between the floorboards and Prytes looks at him. He ran to a different room and between the floorboards and saw Joshua. He quickly runs to Morgene to get help. They soon help Joshua escape. Late at night Prytes comes with an army of men. Prytes breaks the door down and then Morgene makes a fire spell. He tells Simon to go out to his underground door. Simon soon escapes and now he starts to walk to nail fort. He walked to the forest and saw a pit trap. There was a sitha inside. Simon helped the Sitha out but then a logger came. The sitha shot a white arrow and left. The logger runs away to find the sitha. Simon picks up the white arrow just as a little man comes, his name is Binakik. He comes from the trollfell mountains. He and Simon become friends as they walk to nail fort. They found a girl named Marya. They walked and walked. They soon come to an abandoned sitha city. Binakik gets shot by an arrow by a man. Simon had to carry Binakik through the abandoned city. He soon finds a safe spot in the city and get’s Binakik’s cane. It had a knife in the bottom part of it. Simon and Marya cut the arrow out of Binakik. They soon walk to Nail fort at night. In the morning, Simon had to go to the person that owns Nail Fort. It was Joshua! Joshua had found the book called The Wry Of The Swords. In the back it had a poem. They had to find the 3 greatswords. The greatswords names are called Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn. Joshua wants Simon to go on a quest to find Thorn. They have to have all three swords to win the war. I recommend this book for extreme fantasy readers and adventure readers because of all the action and magic in it. It is more on the longer side so I recommend this book for 6th to 8th graders.
