The Starburst Juju

The Starburst Juju

By Monica Strang

My new favorite book! Pepper goes in search of her parents after they are abducted by aliens. With the help of new friends from different planets and her close friend Parker by her side, Pepper travels to different worlds in search of the Starburst Juju that will help her find her missing parents. The journey opens her eyes to her own hidden talents. All the action and adventure kept me glued to the story, and I fell in love with the characters. The story has a lot of color, radiance, and a touch of whimsy. It is an excellent book that's filled with adventure, excitement and friendship and is definitely worth a read.

Captured

Captured

In my personal opinion, on a scale of 1-5, I would rate this book as a 3. It's good, but it's not at the level it needs to be at. I think it was intended for young adults because of the time period, but the vocabulary is too "modern." This fictional story would have taken place around the 1600s. But the vocabulary would have been much different then, and the characters would have been talking like they were in a Shakesperean play, not a 21st century play. Frankly, kids probably younger around the age of 10 could read this book. But I think if this book were to be critiqued, it would get much better results. The title and the plot I would probably change, because of the fact that everyone wants to write fictional works about a prince and a princess, along with using a commonly used title, such as "Captured." But the creative writing is there, and if a writer can't write with creativity, then they probably won't go very far. Well done!

The Garden of Eve

The Garden of Eve

By K. L. Going

I loved this book! It was super inspiring. The lesson learned is to believe even when no one else believes in you. The main character is named eve. She is really nice to others but is having a hard time trying to believe in magic because everyone says it is fake but her mom thought it was real. I recommend this book because it will inspire you to be different from everyone else. It will also teach you other things.
