Kids Books - Science Fiction

All of Rick Riordan's books are amazing. He is so creative and imaginative with his books. I am pretty sure no other author wrote about Greek mythology in the view of a 16 year old kid who finds out he is a some of one of the major gods, Poseidon or 2 teens who find out they are related to Egyptian gods or even I homeless 16 year old who finds out he is related to Frey And now Egyptian and Greek mythology clash... Simply Amazing!..

Legend is one of my favorite series of all time, if not my absolute favorite trilogy. Marie Lu is a fantastic author, and I believe she deserves two thumbs up for this series. The character development is absolutely phenomenal (seriously, after reading I wondered how long it took her to plot out the characters!) and the plot is fantastically well planned out. I loved every single page of these books, and the details and characters in this book are amazing. Lu is by far one of my favorite authors of all time, and if you have not read this series please do!

The fourth book in this series has an awesome cliffhanger! It is a must read! Agent "Flinch" is observing a virus that seems to turn everyone into villains (hence the title of the book). When he too gets the virus, he discovers that he beat it and he is now immune to it. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about his teammates. When his teammates turn against him (and themselves), Flinch has to go in the body of Heathcliff's (their former teammate) body to turn off the source of the virus. But there might be another traitor in the midst...

Warning! This review contains spoilers. Someone kidnaps the president's daughter, and it's up to the NERDS to save her. They soon learn that Ms. Holiday kidnaped the president's daughter, so she could lead a team called the BULLIES. Their plan: go back in time and make sure the NERDS never existed. When her teammates start disappearing one by one, it's up to Pufferfish (with a little help from a newly reformed Heathcliff and Agent Brand) to save everyone. What I thought of it: It defiantly wasn't the best. I hoped for a better ending to the series. I really didn't like how in the end, pretty much every kid in the school became one of the NERDS. There are many reasons why that won't work. Reason 1: How are they going to explain to the school staff why all the kids in the school keep missing classes? Reason 2: How are they going to keep track of them all? In the end of the book, Pufferfish says something about organizing them, but how effective will that really be? Reason 3: How are they going to train them all? They can't effectively train hundreds of kids, unless they take them in smaller groups. But that would take a really long time, and the world will always need saving. The list could go on and on. One thing I did like was that they seemed to have completely dropped the whole "Duncan/Matilda" thing. I guess Mr. Buckley realized what a bad pairing that was. Overall it was ok.

First and foremost, a very big thank you to DOGO for sending me this book. I love Oliver's Young Adult books so I predicted that I would like this book. It truly didn't disappoint, even though spiders freak me out. Liza, the main character, has to save her brother's stolen soul from the evil Spindlers. It definitely reminded me of Alice In Wonderland and especially Gregor The Overlander. Spindlers was magical and the illustrations were spectacular. Oliver can definitely write heart-wrenching novels as well as magical tales that will entertain older and younger readers. ~ifeelbookish

In this rendition of the folktale, East of the Sun and West of the Moon, this book tells the story of Rose, a girl born as a Northern child in a family of Eastern homebodies. Rose's mother tries to hide that Rose was actually born as an adventurer, but when an enourmous white bear shows up at Rose's families' cottage, the secret begins to unravel. Rose ventures on a journey tot he land of the north with the white bear as her best companion. This is such an amazing book, barely words can describe it. I throughly LOVED reading it and I think all lovers of friendship, courage and adventure would love it as well!

One day, when Celia's grandmother comes to live with her and her family, Celia is delighted to hear the fascinating stories that her grandmother has to tell. She tells of the fairies that live in the woods, opening Celia's mind to the magic and hidden intertwined roots of the enchanting beings that live and play around her all the time. When a mean lady named Vicky McKlutchy tries to get Celia's family to give her LoveJoy World in enchange for not tearing their house down, Celia must find a way to team up with the fairies to save her family and the folk of the forest! This is a magical book and I really enjoyed reading it :)

The third novel in the NERDS series is my favorite one! A super spy named Matilda Choi is acting like a cheerleader (a person that she hates being) and finding the one bad apple in the bunch; a former team member. But who could it be? Can it possibly be Tiffany, who is very agile; something that could be taught to a spy? Or Lily, an only child, just like the bad guy that Matilda is after? How can she possibly find the villain? Maybe it is time to call a very specific person. But can she really trust Heathcliff Hodges, a traitor to the NERDS?

This is an adorable graphic novel about a little girl who's drawings come to life and swirl around her. It is beautifuly drawn and the story is very sweet and magical. I really enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to anyone :)

The Moorchild by Eloise Mcgraw is a captivating story of a girl, half human and half fairy-folk who is put into a family in place of their own daughter. This books tells of Saaski's journey and her adventures as she struggles to find who she is and live among the villages who taunt, tease and are scared of her beacause she is different. The only comfort Saaski finds is playing odd tunes on her bagpipes in the moor. As Saaski grows older, the past and memories of the flok start to drift back into her mind, like dandelion flyaways, and she begins to wonder about where she came from and who she really is... This is such an amazing story filled with friendship, magic, courage, mystery and enchantment. I loved reading it and definitely recommend it to others!
