Warriors: Enter the Clans (Warriors Field Guide)

Warriors: Enter the Clans (Warriors Field Guide)

By Erin Hunter

I love this book as much as I love other Erin Hunter books, but there are conflicting views. Think about it. Code of the Clans states that the Warrior Code was formed by cats who thought that the rules needed to be there for all Clans to follow. Secrets of the Clans states that Thunder, River, Wind, and Shadow worked together to create the code. What is it?? My theory is that the unwritten rules, such as medicine cats cannot have kits or mates, are the original code. The modern code was created by the Clans over time. And don't get me started on how there was no Sky in the beginning to form SkyClan and how there is no first medicine cat for SkyClan. Were the SkyClan cats who were first to take power in their Clan forgotten, erased from memory because of their downfall, or was it something else? I guess there are some things that we can only assume in Warriors. Overall, nice informational book about a fiction series. I especially love the herb glossary in it!

Warriors: The Broken Code #3: Veil of Shadows

Warriors: The Broken Code #3: Veil of Shadows

By Erin Hunter

The time has come...for an impostor to fall. After the warrior Clans defeated an evil group of rogue cats and defeated a prophecy about a terrible storm, they expected peace. But no, peace never came. Instead, a terrible illness overwhelmed Bramblestar, the leader of a Clan, making him lose one of his nine lives...and he has been behaving oddly ever since. What really happened to him? Everyone wants to know—and one cat actually does. Rootpaw, a Clan apprentice, has a secret...one that is too dreadful to share. He knows that when Bramblestar died, some cat took over his body and controlled it. He isn’t sure who did this. Who would be powerful, vicious, and hateful enough to do such a thing? He must find out—before it’s too late. Can he stop the impostor? Read this book to find out! Filled with enthralling twists and turns, this descriptive book will amaze anyone who reads it. It was great, and I recommend it to every Warriors fan.

The Copper Gauntlet (Magisterium, Book 2)

The Copper Gauntlet (Magisterium, Book 2)

By Holly Black, Cassandra Clare

The Copper Gauntlet is the second book in the series of "The Iron Trial". First of all, I strongly suggest that if you have not read the first one to do so before reading The Copper Gauntlet. Otherwise several key factors will not make sense. In the Copper Gauntlet Cole has found out some plans of his father's-that don't look good for Cole. So he decides to run away until school starts. Then he will return to the Magisterium. But then Cole finds out an ancient weapon has been stolen-and his father is the prime suspect. Cole, Aaron, Tamara and Jasper must set out to prove his father innocent. I liked in this book that Cole and his "enemy" (Jasper) have to work together. There is a lot of tension in the book, and moments that you wonder what will happen. I like that even though there is a "real" enemy, there is also a smaller antagonist. I also liked that there were more settings beyond the school or Cole's house. In this book, the crew actually went out and had an adventure where lives were at stake. Something I didn't like in this book was that there did seem to be copied features that are expected. For instance, the main trio-Cole, Aaron and Tamara-seem to to replicate traits of the main characters of Harry Potter-Harry, Ron, and Hermoine. I would recommend this book to magic-lovers and all fantasy fans. Also, any people who like books such as Harry Potter. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

The Iron Trial (Book One of Magisterium)

The Iron Trial (Book One of Magisterium)

By Holly Black, Cassandra Clare

This book centers around a twelve year old kid named Call Hunt, who has been accepted into a school for magic called the Magisterium, though his father doesn't want him to attend. While at the school, Call makes new friends, new foes, and discovers a shocking secret about himself that turns his whole world upside down. This book was fast paced, original, and had plenty of funny moments too. It's got friendship, love and lots of mystery. Unlike most fantasy books, this one doesn't have the usually clear-cut lines between good and evil; on the contrary, it ends with a shocking plot twister that is sure to keep you on your toes and dying to read the next book. I would reccomend this to people that love fantasy, friendship, and fast paced adventure.

Michael Vey 2: Rise of the Elgen

Michael Vey 2: Rise of the Elgen

By Richard Paul Evans

Michael Vey: Rise of the Elgen is the 2nd book in the Michael Vey series. It stars Michael Vey, a boy who is one of 17 children who have electrical-based powers. They are being researched by a company called The Elgen. Some of the “electric children” are on Vey’s side, but some support The Elgen. Since the Elgen kidnapped Michael’s mom, Michael goes to one of their bases to rescue her. This book has lots of action and is a page-turner. This series is also very similar to other series, namely the Percy Jackson series, so if you enjoyed those books, you’ll enjoy this book too. I recommend this book to kids in 5th to 8th grade. This book gets a 4 out of 5 from me.
