Michael Vey 6: Fall of Hades

Michael Vey 6: Fall of Hades

By Richard Paul Evans

Wars are not won with manpower, they are won with checkbooks. That is what Michael Vey and the Electroclan is doing in Michael Vey Book 6: Fall of Hades by Richard Paul Evans. This book takes place on modern times and is in several places in the World. The Electroclan are going to carry out their deadliest mission yet, stealing the Elgen’s floating Fort Knox, the Joule which is in Tuvalu. In Fall of Hades Michael Vey and the Electroclan with the Resistance are the Protagonists, the antagonists are Admiral General Hatch and the Elgen Inc. Hatch has sentenced 2 of his electric teens, Tara and Torstyn to death and another electric teen, Quentin to a lifetime incarnation to a monkey cage. The Electroclan is also planning on freeing their former enemies Quentin, Tara, and Torstyn before hijacking the Joule because the Electroclan will need their powers to steal the floating gold vault. The turning point in this book is when Captain J.D. betrays the Electroclan and notify the Elgen and Admiral General Hatch that the Electroclan has come to free Quentin, Tara and Torstyn. Things then continuously get worse and worse for the Electroclan. Will Michael and the Electroclan successfully hijack the Joule or has Michael’s luck finally ran out? I would recommend this everyone who likes science fiction and an action packed book. Notice: Please read Michael Vey books 1,2,3,4,5, before reading Fall of Hades.

Michael Vey 4: Hunt for Jade Dragon

Michael Vey 4: Hunt for Jade Dragon

By Richard Paul Evans

Michael Vey: Hunt for Jade Dragon is the fourth book in the Michael Vey series. The book stars a boy named Michael and his friends, a group called the Electroclan. Most of the Electroclan are electric; the kids have electric powers that vary from person to person. There are 13 electric children. However, they are hunted by the Elgen, the corporation who made them electric, and have some of the electric children on their side. The Elgen recently kidnapped a autistic genius named The Jade Dragon who has the formula for creating more electric children. The Electroclan will have to travel to Taiwan to rescue the Jade Dragon and stop the Elgen from creating more of them. This book is the best in the series so far, as it is humorous at the right times, while being sad when it needs to. I recommend this book to any middle schooler that read the first 3 books and enjoyed them. This book gets a 4 out of 5 from me as it is a good book.

The Taken (Foxcraft #1)

The Taken (Foxcraft #1)

By Inbali Iserles

The Taken starts by introducing Isla the fox and her family, describing their life. Then Isla is separated from her family. When she returns home she finds her family's den surrounded by strange foxes who are burning it down, and her family have disappeared. Isla sets off on a dangerous journey into the furless one's city, in order to track down her family. On the way she meets another fox who is searching for her twin brother. He says that he has been sent by the Elders. But can he be trusted? On her trip Isla learns about the true meaning of family, faces danger around every corner, and learns about the magic of Foxcraft. To be honest I had a tough time at the beginning of the book. At that point I think that there were too many adjectives that could have been taken out. It was hard to get into the story. But I continued reading, and once the action started to rise I could hardly put the the book down. Isla faced trial after trial of survival. There were many surprises, and I loved looking back and noticing parts of foreshadowing, or clues to an event that would happen later in book. I recommend this book to middle grade students and older, as there was a lot of action and fighting. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

The Revenge of Magic

The Revenge of Magic

By James Riley

This book is awesome! You don’t know what is happening for the first few chapters, and then everything starts making sense and you get immersed into the world of magic! The way kids learn magic is a cool idea, and over all Revenge of Magic is basically if Harry Potter was controlled by the government. I recommend this book!

The Mage (Foxcraft, Book 3)

The Mage (Foxcraft, Book 3)

Animal luvr V.S

I just started reading a couple pages of this book but I’ve already read the first and second. I LOVED the other books and I’m really excited to read further into this one(if it’s awesome like the previous books which I’m sure it is). I love the detail of the books although the vocabulary can be a little more complex at times. I find the Isla’s adventures very interesting along with new characters she encounters throughout her journeys. I also find the different Foxcrafts very interesting along with the chants( it makes me wish I was a fox so I could preform them as well)! I’m sad that this is the last book but I’m really happy I discovered this sequel. I recommend these books to all animal lovers and even if you’re not one, yet*, it’ll definitely make you loves foxes!

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

By Robert Louis Stevenson

The lesson that DR. Jekyll learns is that he shouldn't have taken the drug because it changes his life forever. For example, when DR. Jekyll turns into Hyde, his personality changes into evil. He can be hazardous because in the book it says that he killed someone and ran away. This shows that trying to change yourself has very negative affects. For one, he can't spend time with the people he likes, for fear of turning into Hyde, and he can't do his projects because he might turn into Hyde. Also, now people are going to keep an eye on Hyde and if someone sees him turn back into Jekyll, then it will be really risky. DR. Jekyll will be in a worse situation because of it and now, he can never be himself without Hyde. If Jekyll didn't take the drug, he would be better off without Hyde around. I rate this book a “7 out of 10” and the illustrations a “5 out of 10.” I really recommend this book because it is full of mystery and action and after every page there is a picture, which makes it very easy to visualize. One unanswered question I would like to ask is… What made MR. Hyde so evil? Was it something in the drug? If so, would Jekyll still have some control over Hyde because Jekyll has the same brain when he turns into Hyde?

I Survived the American Revolution, 1776
