Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices)
By Cassandra Clare
Lady Midnight was one of the most incredible books I have ever read. Between the epic love story that will leave you broken and the amazing plot that will leave you astounded, I absolutely LOVED this book. It all starts when mysterious, demonic kills start to happen that are similar to Emma Carstair's parents deaths. Emma is a shadow hunter, which means that she keeps modern-day deadly, mystical creatures under control, such as: vampires, werewolves, and demons... but her forever passion was finding who killed her parents, and she knew that these kills would answer it. As she faces the dark future ahead of her she is an inspiration to many as she never gives up. Ever. Emma shows that she never will leave her family behind, even if that means she has to sacrifice herself for them. As she races towards the truth of her parents deaths she comes closer and closer to her own. Lady Midnight is a powerful, inspiring, and gripping read. You won't be able to put it down!
The Rithmatist
By Brandon Sanderson
The book I read was Rithmitist by Brandon Sanderson. The book was about a non-Rithmitist student named Joel and his friend Melody. Joel attends a Rithmatist school called Arimduas, only because Joel's mother is a night maid and works there. After students start disappearing is up to Joel and Melody to find the kidnapper and stop him. The atmosphere of the book is sorta Harry Potter esc and a little bit of steam punk mixed into it. The rate I would hit the book is 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. The reason being is because there are some slow parts of the book that was really boring. They tried to lead to a romance but that just took way and sidetracked the reader. For example the Ice Cream parlor was just a wast of time. Non of the information in that scene was of any use except maybe the dollar. Over all thought the book is still fantastic and you should read it.
