Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

amme too. I like violence in books so this is the right book for me. I think that it will be good also because people have to stay alive and win. Or else, you die. I really interested

gap and 18710 hunger is about what you said gap but it also has you gather resourses and food and wild things and weponds in this one big forest or where ever they play at but hunger games in real life is nothing to play with you only got 1 life ist not like a game or the game hunger games so watch out

I really wan't to read this book I wan't to compare it to the movie.Plus i just really like hunger games.

I'll admit, I'm not usually the 'dystopian teen-fiction' type, but Suzanne Collins blew us all away with The Hunger Games. (I'm SO glad it wasn't another: "OMG, we love our government and way of life! Oh wait, no we don't. Let's rebel!" You know the ones.) She spun an amazing tale of hate, hope, and love that left us all wanting more. Five stars.

When Katniss Everdeen's little sister Prim, is chosen for the vicious Hunger games, Katniss volunteers. She is either going to die or live, all for the entertainment of the twisted Capitol. Awesome read.
