Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

Awesome awesome Twinkie that was random love the book

I loved the Hunger Games. So dramatic and characteristic. I think that Suzanne Collins really introduces Katniss in the first book of the hunger games.

Awesome book the movie was a lot less detailed but still good Suzanne Collins is a awesome author ! 5 stars obviously !

Way cool.

I really liked this book. I recommend it for kids 12+

i haven't read this book but my friend told me the book was really interesting and i am going to try it

this was the best book I've ever read but also the sadist . But it was the best love, war and mystery book that I've ever.

I loved this book so far it is very violent but in a good way, it has inspired me to write my own novels to be as good Collins. Reading has been a big part of my life but I think Collins has made it even more exciting. Ok so maybe I am the worst kid to work a bow and arrow, cook, bake or anything but I respect Katniss. _ hugs >.<

This was one of my favorite books yet! I loved reading from Katniss' prospective. She is not as "sugar coated" like the main characters in other books I read. She is very nice, kind, sweet and kind but she has a hint of shallowness and a bad temper. After all in conclusion, I still LOVE this book along with the others in the series.
