Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

I really want to read this book! I think I will read it once I finish the series that I am already on.

THIS WAS GOOD!!!! literally awesome if you ignore the katniss and peeta thing. it's a really good book 👍🏼. Idk what to say. but. it made me cry 🤪

I have heard that this book is really good. I really badly want to read it. Isn't there also a movie about it too? Obviously, I would read the book first though!

I think that it would be pretty harsh living in a world like this, but overall this was a good book so I give it 4 stars

I is a great book with violence with makes it a action pact book 5 stars SLAY!

Really, Really good book. Really good dystopian like descriptions of the atmosphere and the world around Katniss and Peeta. I am the type of person who likes a lot of gore. I love the Halloween movie series and Friday the 13th and other slasher films. I felt really satisfied with the violence in this book. It sounds bad, and I promise I don't go around hurting any1 and I'm not a serial killer (istg) but it was a good amount of gore. Really good book, would definitely recommend.

I read this book a couple of months ago, and it was amazing. I was kept awake for several nights in a row, and I could not close the book. Suzanne Collins really generates constant action, and whenever you read something by her, it's hands down awesome!

I love the Hunger Games series! The movies are also great! ❤️

In the ruins of former North America lies the nation of Panem. The capitol is surrounded by twelve districts. The only way the capitol knows to keep the districts in line is by the hunger games. Each district must send a boy and a girl between the ages of twelve to eighteen to participate in the games, a fight to the death on television. Winning the games means fame and fortune while losing means certain death. When the contestants are chosen for the seventy-fourth hunger games are chosen and twelve year old Prim Everdeen is chosen, sixteen year old Katniss knows she has to take her sister's place. Even though Katniss has been close to death before, she still regards the games as a death sentence. Katniss knows she and her partner Peeta must win for district twelve. Awaiting her fait, Katniss knows she must try her best and survive, for the sake of district twelve, and her family, but if she does win, she doesn't want to give up her privacy and her life. The games change lives, but will it change Katniss and Peeta's life?
