Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

The whole series was really good and the best for me. So I recommend to many other people. You will be wanting more.

I really want to read this book I want to se the movie too. by the trailers the book must be better than the movie.

funny funny

i loved the seiries, but i thought that there was a lot of kissing, a little too much.and i am so team gale.everyone should listen to set fire to the bread, hunger games i wanna go parody, and the hunger games hillywood show.

I loved the book! I just hope they don't turn the movies into a Twilight type thing with Team Peeta and Team Gale. My friend said she was Team Peeta. If they turned The Hunger Games into a Team Peeta and Team Gale, that would practicly ruin it!

This book was totally awesome. I haven't seen the movie yet but there is no way the movie can be as good as the book. I can't wait to read Catching Fire.

This book takes place in the future in what used to be the USA and is now Panem. The Hunger Games is a very good book and has amazing but gloomy story about one girl who changed Panem.
