Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

I thought that the Hunger games was an exciting and thrilling adventure. What I liked the most was the romance.

the best book ever

I think it's a good book to read

I didn't like this book...I read it and watched the movie...the movie was good but not the book. That's what I think, but others might like it sooo read it!

The Hunger games sounds like a good series.

I rate this book a 4.5, because of it's fast-paced story line and its amazing plot and detail. Main character Katniss Everdeen gradually adapts to her surroundings and becomes brave, strong, and above all, determined.

@Karliec The book obviously has lots of realistic violence in it, involving weapons and hand-to-hand combat. It describes it in words, so it may be more clear in your head. As for the movie, they just don't show the violent scenes, although they may show chase scenes where some teenager hunts down another kid.

the book has violence and the movie had none i am 10yearsold
