Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

This is a great book.

This book, about a dystopian country in the future that is called Panem, is one of the best books I've read. Katniss, the main character, is a girl determined to fight to keep her family alive in the poorest district of Panem, District 12. READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this book is awsome because i am reading it and it is just a good book i hope all you guys could read it.

When I read it I could not stop. Full of action and love. Its a great book with great books to follow!

This story could be our future! I find it the most difficult book to put down!

You can't stop reading it. Agree?

Let me expand please! Haha! Katniss Everdeen is not a very unique character in herself. She is cold and hard, as most novella characters are these days. Although interesting to read about, she is not at all unique or very realistic. She has vulnerable emotions that are fun to toy with. The story is quite expertly weaved. It is written simply to build suspense and not to evaluate on any real issues. It's quick writing style is built for children of younger ages.

Aaah....Although it has been said, I do enjoy this book. Not my favorite, but a thoroughly enjoyable read. Only the first one, but it is interesting at that.
