Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

i love this book and i have the collection at home

I think that this book was the 2nd best in the series 'cause personally, I think that "Catching Fire" was even better. This book is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen and a boy named Peeta Mellark. In the beginning, Primrose Everdeen, Katniss's little sister, gets chosen in 1 in thousands of slips. Katniss volunteers to go on this Life-or-death event. "The Hunger Games" is a book that'll give you chills on the back. I recommend this book for ages 9-17

i totally agree with you. Catching Fire was the best out of all. i also think that Mokingjay was the most boring, but the epilouge was good

Read first two almost done with third recommend for grades 5-11

This book is great! Hunger Games is a book about a place that has been divided up and they all always have a day to pick people for an enormous event where a boy and girl from each district. ( that's what the place is divided into) The boys and girls from the districts all get put in an artificial environment. That's when they fight to the death and in the end of the hunger games there is only 1 person remaining but this year the event has a twist. In the competition there are two lovers! Want to know more! Well then I guess you'll just have to read the book!!
