Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

nice! I loved this book, but I do not think that it was good for younger children. It was kind of gruesome and scary. The sequels are definitely NOT for children.

I'm in a younger grade, so I found it a bit scary and hard to understand, but the plotline is great! Can't wait to read it properly when I'm a bit older!

I love the Hunger Games! The Hunger Games is about a girl named Katniss. Katniss and Prim go to the drawing of the annual Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a T.V. show that they have. Prim gets drawn and Katniss volunteers. The Hunger Games is where a boy and a girl from each district is chosen to go and fight to death until one is left. Katniss and the boy chosen Peta are from district 12. District 12 is the district that has the least amount of all things. The winner of the Hunger Games gets a bunch of things for their district. Katniss, Peeta as long as 10 other people go to fight. The Hunger Games is a grate book!

this book is amazing

I love the Hunger Games series by Suzanna Collins. Its about a 16 year old girl named Katniss Everdeen. She takes her sister Prim's place in the arena. In the book it can be heartbreaking and sad. But the book is also exciting. It is more a book for grades 5 and up. In the book there is a spice of romance readers love. I encourage you to read the books.
