Twenty years ago, all the evil villains were banished from the kingdom of Auradon to the Isle of the Lost--a dark and dreary place protected by a force field that makes it impossible for them to leave. Stripped of their magical powers, the villains now live in total isolation, forgotten by the world.
Mal learns from her mother, Maleficent, that the key to true darkness, the Dragon's Eye, is located inside her scepter in the forbidden fortress on the far side of the island. The eye is cursed, and whoever retrieves it will be knocked into a deep sleep for a thousand years. But Mal has a plan to capture it. She'll just need a little help from her "friends." In their quest for the Dragon's Eye, these four kids begin to realize that just because you come from an evil family tree, being good ain't so bad.

At first I was hesitant to read this book, but I am so glad I did! This book was surprisingly very funny. Following the story of a supposed villain, The Isle of the Lost shows that just because your family might be evil doesn't mean you have to be. I liked that this book showed personal choice.
I really liked it because it had an adventure and friendship and working together. I thought the story was interesting because it used parts of some other stories I already knew like Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.
i wounden't read this at home but i liked if you like books that draw you in read this
Mal's mom is evil. Jay's dad is obsessed. Evie was banished. and carlos was...carlos. bound to a task of finding the dragons eye, apparently on the island....
Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos are sent off to get Maleficent's Dragon Eye which is the only way to true evil and darkness. But soon realize that it's in Maleficent's fortress on the other side of the island they live on. And they also figure out whoever retrieves the Dragon's Eye, will be put into a deep deep sleep. Mal has a plan to get the Eye which involves the help of her "friends". But along the journey, they are thinking that maybe being a good person wouldn't be so bad even if her bloodline is evil.
I guess this was okay. I didn't like it that much. It is just about so kids who scavenge out for the crown of some awesome wonderland.
I loved this book. It was an interesting take on the Disney supervillians. I always thought the movie looked lame, but after reading this book l'm a lot more interested in it.
I liked learning about fairy tales from the villain's point of view. I really liked the character Mal. I liked reading about how she changes through the story. I would recommend this book for people who like fairy tales.
I enjoyed this book. It was interesting to hear the story from the villain's point of view. My favorite character was Mal. I liked to see her change as the story went on.
