Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself. Until the Minotaur chases him to summer camp. Suddenly, mythical creatures seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. The gods of Mount Olympus, he's coming to realize, are very much alive in the twenty-first century. And worse, he's angered a few of them: Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy has just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property, and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. On a daring road trip from their summer camp in New York to the gates of the Underworld in Los Angeles, Percy and his friends -- one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena -- will face a host of enemies determined to stop them. To succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of failure and betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

the book was so awesome because how percy grover and annabeth went on a quest and how percy fought luke and stuff the movie was awsome

this book was about percy wierd life and how he was blamed on stealing the lightingbolt. this made him go on an quest

You will enjoy this book so much if you are interested in Greek gods.

I love the start of the PJO series, it really propelled it forward. I'm hoping Percy will go on more adventures after this. Because, I admit it, i've developed an attachment to it. If you like funny books, I recommend reading this wondrous book. It's neatly written, has tons of humor, and in many ways you can relate to the main character, Percy. It also has an amazing plot lined out, and what may seem confusing, will eventually make sense. I believe Rick Riordain will eventually come back to this, mainly because it's his biggest money-maker. Believe it or not this is actually not his first book, which if you are under 15 you shouldn't read. Namely because, it's an adult, wait no, mature novel. Believe me, there are some hilarious story's he will tell you if your lucky enough to see him in person. Now, I did give you some unnecessary information, but it's always better to know other people's opinions, and a little about the writer. Signing out, 2048luver

Try "The Heroes Of Olympus", and then "The Trials Of Apollo". Those are the 2nd and 3rd series.

I read this book a long time ago, when I was in fourth grade (2010-2011), but I still read this series over and over again every year (right now its 2014) because it is AMAZING. It's about this boy named Percy Jackson, and he's your average 12 year old. He's a troubled kid cause he has ADHD and dyslexia. He tends to get expelled out a school every year because, well, bad things come to him. Percy thought it was normal - until he discovers that he has no idea who exactly he is.

I do not like the movie but the book is better.

I like how Percy was poesideon's son he was amazed
