Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself. Until the Minotaur chases him to summer camp. Suddenly, mythical creatures seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. The gods of Mount Olympus, he's coming to realize, are very much alive in the twenty-first century. And worse, he's angered a few of them: Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy has just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property, and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. On a daring road trip from their summer camp in New York to the gates of the Underworld in Los Angeles, Percy and his friends -- one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena -- will face a host of enemies determined to stop them. To succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of failure and betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

the lighting thief i watch the movie but i did not resd the book yet i think it is going to be a good book..
i saw this movie and its really good and the book should be good too!! i really want to read tis book
The beginning really grabs your attention... most books are boring and bad. I can make connections to the Greek Gods all of the time throughout the book. Best book ever!!!
this book is one of my all time favs and i recommend this to anyone who loves adventure, sarcasm, attitude, and friendship.in this story, 12 year old Percy Jackson has just figured out that he is no regular kid after he wakes up at Cap Half Blood, three days after his mom "dies". when he is accused of stealing Zeus' Master bolt, Percy, Grover ,(best friend) and Annabeth go on a hilarious, and very complicated story that involves Percy fallng out the Gateway Arch (which is 630 ft tall!!!!!)
If you like adventure, then you'll like this book. Mixing Greek Mythology and adventure has been the best idea Rick Riordan has come up with, and the results lay right before your eyes: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Greek Gods rule the human world, but only half-bloods, mystical creatures, monsters, and humans who can see through the mist can see them. It is peace at this time, but the Titan lord is rising. Find out what happens, and then this will be a book you won't be able to put down.
I like Rick Riordan's book series of Percy Jackson. I can't let it down. I think I like it more because of the Greek mythology. I really like them as I like this book. I recommend this book to the ones that wants to have adventure. And the peoples who like Greek mythology.
I think that this is a really good book. Also I think that it is the best book in the series. I didn't really like the rest of them to much.
