This first book in Veronica Roth's #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy is the novel the inspired the major motion picture starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Kate Winslet. This dystopian series set in a futuristic Chicago has captured the hearts of millions of teen and adult readers.

Perfect for fans of the Hunger Games and Maze Runner series, Divergent and its sequels, Insurgent and Allegiant, are the gripping story of a dystopian world transformed by courage, self-sacrifice, and love. Fans of the Divergent movie will find the book packed with just as much emotional depth and exhilarating action as the film, all told in beautiful, rich language.

One choice can transform you. Beatrice Prior's society is divided into five factions—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Beatrice must choose between staying with her Abnegation family and transferring factions. Her choice will shock her community and herself. But the newly christened Tris also has a secret, one she's determined to keep hidden, because in this world, what makes you different makes you dangerous.

And don't miss Veronica Roth’s thrilling novel Carve the Mark.

Okay, no. Just, no. Let me spell it for you... NO!!!! This book is nothing like the Hunger Games! Heck to the no!! You may think it is because of the training and violence... but its not. Tell me, does, Fighting to your death, have anything to do with, training for your faction? Ya, that's what i thought... no. Ya, so as you can tell, I'm really passionate about this book... Anyways, what it should be is... If you like the Hunger games, you would LOVE Divergent even more, again because of the violence. So, hope you read it!!! ;)

Divergent is one of my favorite books. A lot of bpeople say its like the Hunger Games but its not. It is just as good or better. I love the fight scenes!

Divergent is one of the best books I've ever read. It is a little bit like the hunger games, but I find it even better. If you haven't read this book yet, it is DEFINITELY a must read! i think that it is suitable for sixth graders and up because there is some minor violence in it, but its not that graphic.

OMG... book is sooo good.. couldn't put it down and I'm reallyyyyyyy picky about books.... I cant believe no one else reviewed this yet.... I think it's far better than the Hunger Games....

This book was one of my favorites. It is about a battle for love and survival. If the authors intention was to make you feel like you were battling for those things she deffinately acheived it

Reading this now, and I can't put it down. This is NOT just your typical teen dystopian novel. It is so much more. Set in futuristic Chicago, I am transported into Tris' world.

almost like the hunger games but completely different at the same time. simply the best book I've ever read and highly recommended. As always it's about a fight for what's right and the people of a future chicago

Divergent is a good book to read if you like the hunger games. it is a perfect example of action and suspense, and I encourage youto read it.
