Over 6 million people have read the #1 New York Times bestseller WONDER and have fallen in love with Auggie Pullman, an ordinary boy with an extraordinary face.

The book that inspired the Choose Kind movement.

I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse.

August Pullman was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face. WONDER, now a #1 New York Times bestseller and included on the Texas Bluebonnet Award master list, begins from Auggie’s point of view, but soon switches to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others. These perspectives converge in a portrait of one community’s struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance.

"Wonder is the best kids' book of the year," said Emily Bazelon, senior editor at Slate.com and author of Sticks and Stones: Defeating the Culture of Bullying and Rediscovering the Power of Character and Empathy. In a world where bullying among young people is an epidemic, this is a refreshing new narrative full of heart and hope. R.J. Palacio has called her debut novel “a meditation on kindness” —indeed, every reader will come away with a greater appreciation for the simple courage of friendship. Auggie is a hero to root for, a diamond in the rough who proves that you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

I am reading this book in school as a class-read-along and I saw the movie. I just have to say, this book is definitely my favorite book. It's about this kid named August Pullman (Auggie) and he has somewhat of a deformed face. He has been homeschooled his whole life and he gets the opportunity to go to a real school. He's hesitant at first, but he decides to go. The popular kid Juliann, is extremely rude to him. He has trouble making friends. Everybody is afraid to touch him. People even created the "plague" which is when Auggie touches them, they have 30 seconds to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer. Cruel, right? Anyways, Auggie meets Jack Will, and they soon become friends. On Halloween, Jack Will talked behind Auggie's back, which betrayed his trust. A girl named Summer, wanted to sit with him after her friends were talking about him. She became friends with Auggie, and unlike Jack, she's trustworthy. She proved her trust because when she got invited to Savannah's party (the popular girl), Savannah said that Juliann liked her and if she would only leave Auggie, she could be part of their group. Summer declined. Jack and Auggie became friends again, fortunately. I hope that didn't spoil it, but this book is absolutely brilliant on all levels. This book also teaches us an important lesson. "Do not be fooled by its commonplace appearance. Like so many things, it is not what outside, but the inside that counts," by Aladdin.

I love Wonder the book and it is my favorite book in the world but the book is way better than the movie. There are some really sad parts and really happy parts but it can be a little scar for kids under 6.

this book is alright it is so sad when daisy dies I almost cried. almost
